It was always obvious that if they can make AIs that do white collar work, they can make robots that do blue collar work.Who tf says "well, my job is safe, they can't ask chatGPT to weld"? Well, many people. But that's because its a fact of life that most people are idiots.I feel for those guys. I hope they'll have jobs for a while doing things the robot can't do. Manual labor is harder than it seems, and there's many things people do without even noticing that are insanely hard for computers. Remember that computers make hard tasks easy but also make easy tasks hard. Their jobs should be safer than people think.Still, I'm a libertarian but things are looking pretty bad in the long term, IF this blows up the way people think (which is actually unlikely, but I mean if it did). I'm a libertarian but if capital starts having immense capabilities to produce with very little labor, it would probably be in most people's best interest to tax them and redistribute.
