>AI video gets effectively indistinguishable from phone footage
>every campaign starts cryptographically signing its official photos/videos
>news outlets follow
>social media starts labeling everything without a verified signature "UNAUTHENTICATED"
>sounds reasonable

Then somebody leaks a REAL video that destroys a candidate. No signature. Anonymous source. Nobody can establish chain of custody.

Candidate says AI.
Supporters say AI.
Platforms slap "unverified media" on it.
Half the country refuses to believe it even after forensic experts say it's probably genuine.

At that point deepfakes don't even need to fool anybody anymore. Their existence gives every politician plausible deniability against real evidence. Isn't that the actual endgame of AI in politics?

Not "fake videos convince everyone." Nobody believes any video at all. What happens to politics once photographic evidence stops functioning as evidence?

Guess they'll actually have to have deeds to back up their bullshit. Accomplishments and paper trails to back them up or somesuch.

>shitskins and females were going to carefully weigh their options and choose the best candidate if only it wasn’t for that darn ai
Oh no! Anyway…

We live in a post information society. You and I know it's real, maybe even the person you're arguing with does. But does it matter? Why would another person believe you or me over anyone that disagrees? That video of the politician grabbing a teen girl's ass as they walk into the hotel room could be fake so there's no reason to investigate or pay it mind.
