Barely two weeks later, the Soviet Union invaded Poland, in accordance with the Secret Protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.
The Nazi German-Soviet Russian alliance extended beyond that and included the sharing of resources and intel sharing, including Gestapo-NKVD conferences in Zakopane, Poland.
Notably, the guarantees given to Poland were made in the event of a specified, German attack on Poland.
Additionally, both Russia and Germany broke their non-aggression treaties they had signed with Poland, in 1932 and 1934 respectively.

The war started with the assault on a Polish outpost of a few dozen soldiers by the German warship Schleswig-Holstein. The outpost held out for a whole week against thousands of German soldiers, artillery, aircraft and the warship. The Polish defenders also scored a higher K/D.
The war simultaneously started with the bombing of the defenseless innocent towns of Frampol and Wieluń. Many civilians died in their sleep. The Luftwaffe treated these civilian settlements as target practice.
>In this video, a Polish history/WW2 YouTuber Grzegorz Bobrek (former head of TVgry/Gamepressure.com) explains how Luftwaffe pilots enjoyed murdering civilians (at the end he also mentions US forces in Vietnam but the video mostly conveys just how evil germs are) - English subtitles are available

Fun fact: a smaller % of ethnic Poles died in WW2 than the % of ethnic Germans in WW2 and its aftermath.
7.5% for ethnic Poles, 10-11% for ethnic Germans
In total figures: 1.8 million of ethnic Poles, 7-9 million of ethnic Germans
