Barely two weeks later, the Soviet Union invaded Poland, in accordance with the Secret Protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact.The Nazi German-Soviet Russian alliance extended beyond that and included the sharing of resources and intel sharing, including Gestapo-NKVD conferences in Zakopane, Poland.Notably, the guarantees given to Poland were made in the event of a specified, German attack on Poland.Additionally, both Russia and Germany broke their non-aggression treaties they had signed with Poland, in 1932 and 1934 respectively.The war started with the assault on a Polish outpost of a few dozen soldiers by the German warship Schleswig-Holstein. The outpost held out for a whole week against thousands of German soldiers, artillery, aircraft and the warship. The Polish defenders also scored a higher K/D.The war simultaneously started with the bombing of the defenseless innocent towns of Frampol and Wieluń. Many civilians died in their sleep.
