It took me over 30 minutes to do each stairwell, and that building is 43 stories tall. The WTC towers were 110... So imagine it would take about an hour to run down all those stairs from the top in ideal conditions. That should make it easier to understand why people jumped. I can't imagine the horror that must have taken place inside those stairwells. And while I'm on the topic, WTC had a fire pump that would easily pump hundreds of thousands of gallons of water per minute, and it's always been confusing to me why you never see water pouring out of the towers...
