In a previous job, I worked with what one might refer to as Old School Homosexuals - privately educated men who knew how to conduct themselves respectfully within senior roles in professional environments. They were alright actually; very good at building a rapport with their staff, which made for a pleasant workplace. I had a conversation with a few of them about these pride events and they all found the idea ridiculous, largely because today's generation that largely attend these events weren't even born during the fight for gay rights. They viewed pride events as crass gatherings for plebs to behave shamelessly.
