A significant portion of men already do this but the government intervenes and forces them to at least support the mother financially. In comparison it's nearly unheard of for women to do something like that. Women aren't really allowed an out the same way men are if they decide they don't want to be a parent any more--and it drives some of them psychologically crazy like this recent caseMarriage and being in a family is ultimately enforced by the government. It's a way to maintain social structure. The reality is that if we let people leave their families and kids without consequence it would become very commonplace. Already 40% of marriages in the west end in divorce. Imagine what it would be if there were no consequences? At least half of people would do itI'm not defending these woman but they are driven crazy because once you're a mother there isn't really a socially-acceptable off-ramp for you if you change your mind. Obviously some people aren't mentally capable of being parents, women included
