Our system is uniquely shit at representing people. If the majority of the people around you disagree with your views then you WILL NOT be represented no matter your vote. In that sense it doesn't matter.However a counterpoint is that historically low turnout among young working adults has contributed to the gerontocracy that's done nothing but spite young working adults.

Voting matters but once you've enfranchised large groups of people (e.g. women) it's an almost impossible task to remove their right to vote. When the majority of voters are morons or batshit crazy women, you get the society that they believe is best. Is it any wonder then why Jews were so desperate to give the poor and women the franchise in every Western nation? They did it to destroy us, so they could rule us with impunity. America seems to be on course to reverse this however. There's hope there. But the rest of us are a long way off.
