Why have people become so obsessed with their appearance?

Appearance is health.

Many reasons and circumstances. All which can be very valid and perfectly normal, life, change, adaptation.

>>541897350I've been obsessed with it since I was a child, long before people had such easy access to the internet. But unlike the comical lookmaxxers' ideal, my wishes about how I wanted to look were very modest. I simply wanted to not look ugly -- or a specific kind of ugly. There were even people who were called ugly whom I would have gladly wanted to look like, because in my eyes, they weren't really ugly at all. I didn't have a specific ideal in mind; I only knew what I didn't want to look like. What we have now are, for the most part, normal to good-looking men who are obsessed with irrelevant changes - basically like someone who owns a Porsche but is desperately upset that their Porsche doesn’t have a cup holder.
