it takes a year or two to build a data center.it takes a year or two to build a new fab.why is the latter not done but they spent billions on the former? Also if efficiency of allocated resources should be a question if you keep pumping money into a market thats supply constrained you are only going to raise prices of the hardware your effective return is going down. You want more for your dollar stop pumping up the hype and demand and do some long term planning. They let westoids spend billions and billions of dollars on data centers and frontier models, then they hide behind proxies, query the frontier models a gorillion times and are able to distill the underlying logic (from the answers) to use in their own AI. They let us do the really expensive, resource-intensive work and then basically copy our results.
