This was applauded by the establishment. If the left were truly fighting the establishment all of this would be flipped. Fascism is a boogeyman and the people turning to it are not the elites but the disenfranchised working class. The left is the side of the elites and the establishment, the right is the side of the working class. Maybe they need to consider that they are the useful idiots of the establishment and just take the victory lap.
