Ukraines F-16s face a severe shortage of AIM-9 Sidewinder and AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles.

https://www.twz.com/air/missile-shortage-has-now-hit-ukrainian-f-16-force

Crews are rationing limited stocks. On some daytime missions they must rely on the jets 20mm cannon against Russian drones and cruise missiles which is very dangerous and risks damage/deatruction of jets. A Ukrainian Air Force commander (callsign “Phantom”) said shipments are tracked almost minute-by-minute amid ongoing large-scale Russian aerial attacks. The shortage also strains Patriot and NASAMS systems, which compete for the same limited interceptor stocks. Phantom stressed that aircraft without weapons are "useless" and called for more missiles plus increased production which is laughably low compared to Ukraines needs. Ukraine calls for more factories amid the Wests deindustrialisation.

ghost of kiev will save the day
>>
>>541902353
Bolanda should give all its stocks to winning Ukraine, if it hasnt done it yet. Otherwise i would accuse it of being a Russian collaborant xD

>ghost of kiev
I wonder if once the war is finished, the only thing that will remain of kiev will be its ghost
>>
BTW, the shortage is causes by what i described in my previous thread:

>Meanwhile Russian Geran-4 Seeker still fly all over Kiev and all regions of Ukraine largely unaffected by any AD. Defences improved somewhat only in the Kiev region because Ukrainians implemented unsustainable tactics to shoot down these jet drones with using Mirage and F-16 jet fighters and expensive SAM missiles.

Westoids produce such low amounts of artillery shells that Estonians were forced to order them in India. China didnt agree to sell. xD

Vid-rel Ukrainian MiG-29 using old Soviet R-60 missile to shoot down cheap Russian S8000 cruise missile.

The R-60 range is around 4 km but the pilot must literally get close to the cruise missile by few meters to shoot it down xD

Ukraine does not produce any R-60 missiles, by the way. It is a soviet stockpile drain.
>>
>>541904193
It is unsustainable mid term tho. Russia scales up S8000 production to thousands missiles a year.

>An assassination attempt targeted Maj. Gen. Nikolai Varpakhovich, commander of Russia's 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division, in Saratov region at about 07:00 on September 3. The attacker allegedly waited for him near a private residence in Probuzhdenie and fired two pistol shots, hitting him in the head and abdomen. Varpakhovich is reportedly in critical condition, while the attacker has not been detained.

>Maj. Gen. Nikolai Varpakhovich commands Russia's 22nd Heavy Bomber Aviation Division, a strategic aviation formation involved in long-range cruise missile strikes against Ukraine. Ukraine has pursued him as a suspected war criminal since at least 2023, accusing him of involvement in attacks on civilian and energy infrastructure that killed 61 civilians and wounded 139 between October 2022 and February 2023.

>Ukrainian investigators have linked Varpakhovich to several deadly attacks. They accuse him and another commander of planning the April 23, 2022 Kh-101 strike on Odesa's Tiras residential complex, which killed 8 civilians and wounded 18. He has also been implicated in the April 2023 Uman apartment strike and the June 2023 Kryvyi Rih attack, which killed 13 civilians and wounded more than 30. Most recently, the SBU accused him of personally ordering the July 8, 2024 Kh-101 strike on Kyiv's Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital, which killed 2 people and wounded dozens. The EU sanctioned him in 2024.

Ukraine's Defense Forces struck NOVATEK's Ust-Luga facility on September 1. Ukraine's 4th Rapid Reaction Brigade "Rubizh" says around 100 Russian troops were killed on a small section it holds near Zolotyi Kolodiaz in Donetsk region. The brigade says Russian forces have tried to infiltrate the area in small groups for more than six months, with neighboring Ukrainian units helping locate and strike them. The 12th Azov Brigade, which also operates in the sector, separately claimed a roughly 1:60 Ukrainian-to-Russian loss ratio there.
>>
>>541911623
Russian sources do not support the detailed claim, another Ukrainian propaganda. Leningrad Oblast Governor Alexander Drozdenko reported a drone attack on 1 September 2026 that caused a small fire in the Ust-Luga port zone. Air defenses downed 52 drones, only one exploded near the facility. The fire was fully extinguished; no casualties occurred. He provided no specifics on NOVATEK facilities, hydrocracking columns, the C200 section, pipelines, or any halt in operations. The facility is fully operational.

https://www.kommersant.ru/doc/8923026

Official Russian reports describe only limited, quickly resolved effects in the broader port area, contradicting claims of extensive targeted damage and shutdown at the NOVATEK complex.

28 Aug 2026

After clearing the village of Shevchenkivske, soldiers from Transbaikalia shared a video of full physical elimination of entire Ukrainian platoon. The platoon from the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, whose task was to attack the positions of the Far Eastern soldiers in the village of Zelenyi was entirely wiped out by drones and artillery.

Gutsuls (commander of the 82nd separate airborne assault brigade) desire to impress the commander of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Apostol, once again resulted in the mass death of Ukrainian soldiers, all for the ambitions of the commander.

I see video of +20 Ukrainian killed soldiers and then i know the massacre really happened. If i saw a video of Ukrainians showing 100 Russian soldiers they killed in a brilliant in a small section anti-infiltration area, i would believe too. Sadly Ukrainians usually have nothing to back their claims with xD

The problem with them lacking air defense is that Russia will just start using their stockpiles of dumber munitions since you no longer need advanced trajectories or maneuverability. It'll be especially bad once Russia can start to increasingly use its airforce for close distance combat operations.
