Because unironically, the modern West genuinely believes that the "wrong side" won WW2 and that Russia/Communism was and is a bigger threat than Germany ever was and is, because Russians are an "asiatic finno ugaric" horde. Nazi Germany is sort of seen as just a mythical ancient thing like the Roman Empire, while Russia and Communism are the biggest threats to everything.
