The issue is there's no winning move if you want to have a family. Playing it safe means being alone your entire life. Having children outside of marriage also isn't a solution because1) if/when you breakup, you'll be hit with child support anyway2) you're far more likely to break up if you try to make it work outside of marriage. You can try to convince yourself that it's effectively the same thing, but it's not. There's something about the sense of (supposed to be) permanence of marriage that consciously and subconsciously makes you take the relationship more seriously and to try to work through problems more than if you were just girlfriend/boyfriend. And statistically that's how it plays out most of the time. So you can just abstain from women entirely and go hermit mode. Or just have girlfriends and no actual family, which is honestly pointless. But if we're talking about actually fulfilling your biological imperative and raising kids, well, there's no good options. Get married and have the sword of damocles hovering over your head forever, or start a "family" out of wedlock, which will almost certainly lead to separation and your kids being raised like niglets by a single mother anyway. You won't have to worry about alimony but you'll get hit with child support which is the worst aspect anyway. You're still fucked. There's no good move to make. Not unless artificial wombs get invented.
