Real life does not care about your hidden potential, and suffering does not guarantee a payoff.A lot of men could not accept the downgrade.So instead of adjusting their expectations, they retreated further into anime, games, porn and online communities where everything is still optimized for them.That retreat creates a vicious loop. The less they participate in real life, the worse their social skills become. The worse their social skills become, the more hostile and unrewarding real life feels. The more disappointing reality becomes, the more appealing fantasy looks.Eventually anime stops being entertainment and becomes the standard by which reality is judged.Women are no longer attractive enough.Relationships require too much effort.Work seems pointless.Marriage looks like a bad deal.Ordinary life feels ugly, boring and beneath them.And because modern technology lets a man sit in a room indefinitely while still receiving entertainment, sexual stimulation, simulated achievement and social interaction, there is almost no pressure forcing him back into reality.That is how you end up with NEETs who do not merely fail at life, but develop an ideology explaining why life was never worth participating in to begin with.Anime’s biggest damage was not making men believe fantasy was real.It was making reality seem unacceptable.
