With homemade have to buy a multitude of ingredients that would quickly spoil unless eaten within the week. Plus you're not counting the labour cost of making and cleaning up. Then you're also left with the rubbish.

The point of fast food is the fact you get your burger within 5 minutes of ordering it and not having to spend hours of your time collecting ingredients and then making it just to eat it in the same amount of time.
>>
>>542011095

Buns are the main issue, you have to buy either a giant pack of cheap ones or a much higher price per bun for just a couple better brands in 2 packs. American cheese is also what you want on a burger, not the kraft singles though, the deli stuff and that adds to the price. The veggies and condiments are pretty negligible. Its definitely worth it if you are cooking for an entire family because you also have to figure in prep, cooking, and cleanup time into the equation. I just mostly do without fast food now because its reached a price threshold im not comfortable in paying, unless I have a coupon. Burgers around my house are the new steaks, steaks have turned into a very special occasion meal instead of a once a month indulgence.

Food cost is the only thing i ignore because im mentally infirm
For dinner its a shiso pesto dry udon with fried chicken
>mash shiso leaves from the garden with pine nuts from a dog food facility
>add salt, rasp'd garlic or chuck everything into a food processor and omit olive oil
>if mortar and peeestoiing it ignore directions and mash to the best of your ability
>if robot couping add 1/3rd volume of grand padano, aesago or however its spelled because the fat of the cheese will lubricate the mixture
>cheese should go into the mortar method but use a microplane to not have cheese chunks
>refrigerate and mortarfags add 50% volume of olive oil and i mean a decent one just skip it if its a supermarket brand
>2 hrs before as my recipes are skitzo take chicken thighs and debone them or buy precut, worlds your oyster
>marinate in soya sauce, sake (optional at best overnight gets best results)
>rasp'd garlic, ginger a teeny bit of baking sodar and salt
>let macerate and create a 50:50 dry wet batter of potato starch, baking pow, salt, any spices you want to add
>wet portion a 50:50 of ice cold water and club soda or seltzer, a liquid fat im using tallow
>any liquid spices add now
>boil udon in salted water and strain and set aside
>fry chicken either in 1 go or 325f then rest at 375
>mix hot udon into pesto mixture
>top with fried chicken

As someone who cooks at home every day, I'd like to point out that this doesn't disprove shit. Grocery prices are still fucking going up, even if it's true that some people could stand to afford life easier if they'd learn to cook and eat their leftovers.

A gallon of milk is about $4 now. About a decade ago it was around $2. Wages haven't doubled in that time. Rent hasn't halved. Electric bills, gas bills, medical bills, they haven't gone down either. 40 hours of work buys you less. So yes, there is an affordability crisis.
>>
>>542014044
There is an affordability crisis but if you cook your own shit it is still going to be less painful than being dependent on precooked or prepared meals
>>
>>542010946
You can't make a burger combo for $5 with these ingredients. You'll need a binder for the ground beef if you expect to make a patty, so toss in a dozen eggs. You'll also need mayonnaise, mustard, and pickles to make the same " Burger Shack" burger. Then a 20 oz soda to finish off the combo. And don't forget salt.

I think the issue with the fast food bullshit is that yes your dollar is devaluing and it has been since 1913, in fact its the policy of our central bank that the dollar will continually devalue. The question is what are you going to do about it? Are you going to cry about it and blame it on XYZ politician when its literally central bank policy? or Are you going to do something about it?

The easiest way to combat food costs is to cook at home. The reason it is contentious is because people exist that want to cry and eat fast food for every meal when they cant afford it.

We have a competency crisis
>>
>>542012666
This is truths
>>
>>542014413
Right. Like this is the issue. You can lie to people about a LOT of things but buying food is an extremely visceral experience. Rich people don’t understand that working class people very much budget their food. They’re that out of touch that they legitimately don’t believe you when you complain about prices. They don’t think you’re paying attention to it because they don’t think about it at all.

The problem that I have with the entire topic is that its a bad faith topic because there isnt much the government can do to lower food prices other than crash the economy so that people stop buying as much food...... well it could cut the $150billion is pours into EBT food subsidy that would also lower prices.

Leftists just use "affordability" as a canard when their policies will accelerate inflation faster than Trump is currently doing. I would rather support the strategy of containing China and putting the majority of global oil production under US purview than whatever faggot shit the Leftists think they are going to do.

Just me though

No, you can't. Average ground beef price is $6.89 here. That's about $1.75 for a 1/4 lbs. A 20 oz drink is $2.50. Assuming $.50 for a bun and you're at $4.75 before you touch any of the works, condiments, or fries.

There's plenty they could do but that's sort of beside the point, it's what they DID do to exacerbate the situation. The cost of the food on your shelves is just a symptom of a much larger issue, a visible one that you are dealing with on a daily basis, such as filling up your vehicle, so it gets noticed. The price of a gallon of diesel is going to reverberate throughout the economy and that's just one of many situations playing out. I'm not sure how containing China is anything more than cope for news watchers, that ship sailed decades ago and merely serves as red meat for the troosters. China didn't force us to deindustrialize and send them our factories, (((we))) made that decision and they capitalized on it. We spent the last quarter of a century gutting this country and spending ourselves into oblivion with pointless wars, China did the opposite. Our chickens came home to roost, and even if we tried to unring that bell in earnest, we aren't, but even if we were, it's going to take at least as long to unfuck things. And I cannot emphasize this point enough, we are not even trying.

Euronigger price chart:
- Fries 2€ / kilo: 50c per serving
- Buns 1,50 for 4 pieces: 75c per serving
- Minced meat: 9€ / kilo: 3€ per serving
- Cheddar 2,50 for 8 slices: 31c per serving
- Tomatoes and salad: One tomato for both burgers and some salad, even 50c is much.

Add that up. 5€ for 2 nice burgers with fries. Make that 6€ with spices and condiment. That's at least 60g protein from 330g meat. If you need more energy cook more fries. Still have leftover meat? Get a kilo of frozen vegetables.
Want to be even cheaper? Buy 5kg of potatoes, slice and freeze them. Make a bread loaf from flour and freeze the slices.

>Hurrr... but you're not actually starving to death yet! You can still afford to eat rice and beans!

Let's focus on what the actual issue is: quality of life is going down, and people can no longer afford the things they used to enjoy. This is because the price of food, housing, and gas have all risen faster than wages. And while most people suffer for it, it's not being considered a problem, because the rich win from it. They're making record profits while everybody else is forced to downgrade.

FFS I already talked about pressure cookers. Fuckers with their gourmet lies coming in here and shitting up my political news.

You're lucky if you can find a head of lettuce for less than 6$. If you think you can make a burger cheaper than a business that makes millions a day you're a retard, economy of scale.
>>
>>542010946
The pricing in that image is way off. This is more accurate:

>>542019298

So that's $25 to make four burgers (subtracting $5 for the fries). $6.25 per burger. You can actually get a burger cheaper than that from Burger King, if you just get the burger by itself instead of the combo.

Am I getting trolled are you actually insane? Who calculates a whole bottle of ketchup for the price of a burger.
Usually I'd presume you're trolling, but I've seen people argue that "low income" households don't have $6 to buy a bottle of ketchup and "no time" to spend 20 minutes putting fires in the oven and cooking minced meat.

I'm with you. Shopping, cooking, cleaning, it adds up. Plus I live alone. I'd be cooking for one. I feel like a third of that food would spoil before I eat it.

Not to mention fries need a deep fryer to be any good, which makes for an extra appliance to maintain.

>excluding beverage
>excluding equipment
>excluding time to cook
It's true that could could make a much better burger at home, and that's, obviously, far healthier than the slop barfed up from a poison barn. However, for the poor, junk food is always more alluring. For starters, if they don't have the amenities to prepare the food, they can't do it. Secondly, the time taken to do can be prohibitive if people are busy and tired as such -- not even accounting for the clean-up afterwards. Then, you have those who may live in dorms or share accommodation, who simply cannot cook for themselves. That, and cooking every now and then is a far cry from having to do it daily, or multiple times daily.

So, even if it can be cheaper to cook at home, it's more complicated and the option does not apply to a large proportion of people. Moreover, when your society sports a median two-digit I. Q., most won't ever even contemplate cooking for themselves; let alone, understand its benefits.

Fuck you, they are free. Want to be an even lazier piece of shit? Buy a $30 Philips air fryer.
Put in half a kilo of fries, cook 10min, throw in spices, shake, place in your 4 patties on top of the fires, cook 8min more. Put in your buns at the end for 2min.
Remove the parts and assemble the burgers on a plate. Boom, you're done.
It will take at least 3 batches before you need to clean the air fryer from the grease. When I got my house I didn't have a kitchen for half a year and still stayed a fat piece of shit with a single hot plate and a cheap af air fryer.
This is literally quicker than than driving to some rancid fast food place and standing in line while jeets collect grubhub orders.

>Cooking at home solves the goyslop problem. Only retards eat expensive fast foods
You might as well tell people to make their own furniture, their own iPhone, or their own car.
The whole point of division of labor, specialization, and economies of scale is that it's supposed to make everyone individually and collectively wealthier.
If it's actaully cheaper to cook for yourself than buying some mass-produced industrial slop, then something is seriously wrong with our system.

I'll vote Democrat, Republican, Green, Libertarian, I don't care, just meet those two criteria and you have my vote. Not like politicians are going to do anything to actually improve my life anyway.

Your body can tank an insane amount of bullshit until you hit your 50s and everything catches up with you all at once. The sad thing is, a lot of long term fat people assume they're just going to get a heart attack and go out relatively peacefully, but in reality fat is a long slow death.
>>
The bit people miss is that businesses can be loss geared.

Rather then making money through making hamburgers, mcdonalds may actually be making money by inflicting a loss on people who DON'T buy the hamburgers.

So the reason the poor seem to always buy these products is because
A. They're way cheaper then most people appreciate, because you don't appreciate WHY the poor are buying them.
B. The poor are directly deprived alternatives by the seller.
That's the nature of a poor trap. A business charging rent to the poor, why the poor stay poor. Boots economics.

Ground beef is like 28 dollars a pound in Canada if you buy it in the store here in Canada. If you make a 1/4 lb burger at home thats 7 dollars juston the beef. And you have to take a mortgage if you want to buy dairy products like cheese because for some reason Ottawa needs to make sure the dairy cartel in Quebec can shake down the entire country.

No joke, I had a friendly bet with my friend that I could cook a meat patty and make two full works burgers in less time than he could go to a drive through and get home with just a single Big Mac (less than 5 mins drive away ).
I won of course, I even had the kitchen bench cleared and clean before he got home. The drive time to MacDonalds, wasn't the problem, it was waiting in a car queue, and then the time ordering, paying and then receiving. That added 15 mins at least
Needless to say there was no comparison between our burgers. Mine were much bigger, lightly toasted buns, freshly grated carrot, lettuce, mayo, grated cheddar cheese, and thick as fuck patty. His Big Mac was miserable looking, a few scraps of something resembling lettuce, a processed slice of cheese, some pickle shit, thin patty, squashed looking buns, and small. Both of mine cost less than $6 to make ( estimate ) his single burger cost about $12, not counting the fuel he used.
I made two because I knew his one would not satisfy his hunger. So I ate both of mine in front of him. Lol.
Admittedly I had all the ingredients on tap, and this doesn't count the time it took me at the supermarket, but then I also bought a load of other stuff in that trip, enough for a weeks food.
>Fuck I hate supermarkets
Yeah so do I. But its a way to beat expensive "fast" food slop. The trick my Brothers is to make a list of what you need. Then go in and ONLY buy what is on the list. Ignore everything else no matter what. Use the same supermarket and you get to know where the shit you need is located.
But yeah supermarkets are cunts. They always position essentials ( like eggs, meat, bread and milk ) in opposite corners just to make you walk through the whole shop. Cunts.
>>
>>542010946
How do you compare a combo to a burger?
>>
where will people work when fast food goes out of business?
>>
>>542011095
its per burger
6-8 euro beef
2 euro cheese
2-3 euro fries
2 euro buns
2 euro ketchup
2-3 euro vegetables
15/4
Less than 4 euros for a burger
still expensive but healthier and tastes good

>>
>>542010946
Pound of beef is $8 right now. All that other shit is at least $20. Will be healthier though...
>>
>>542011842
What if I only want one burger? Things will spoil.
And the prices are delesional. 100g ground meat (which is a ridiculously small burger) is about $3-4. So I need 200g for a burger. And already, the «budget» is about doubled.

And what about the soda?
>>
>Just deal with your currency being ran into the ground goyim and all your purchasing power evaporating while corporations declare record profits
