I suspect airlines are slacking on the first one, because it's a loss of revenue. Before 9/11 people got hammered on flights, but these stories weren't part of the public consciousness. Maybe because there weren't phones everywhere. Maybe because flying was a luxury and not available to the lower classes. Either way, we're more or less stuck with the status quo of 10€ flights to Spain that attracts an already problematic customer base.

We've gotten that shit reduced pretty well, but commercial flight is really just busses with wings, and we let anyone fly. TSA is really just security theater. A plane ticket can be as low as $40, or even $10 for just fees if you work at the airline. Typical flights are $100-200, shit is very affordable for low class people domestically. Most of the time shit goes fine. Then you have those occasions where randos have an issue and shit gets out of hand, and whoops social media is now informed because cell phones are in everyone's hands now. Planes basically mix low pressure, booze, multi-culturalism and cramped quarters together and expect no human to freak the fuck out. Spoiler alert: some humans occasionally freak the fuck out. (that is ignoring the humiliation rituals the TSA put you through earlier)
