I used to work there like a decade ago. That exact one in crownsville. These fags are invaders. It was never a thing. I wont pretend that a lot of people there weren't already pretty liberal but around that time the same fags that ruined conventions and tabletop started flooding into faire. At the end of the season there was a minor exception though, we called it "the week of wrong" and during that time people would show up in all sorts of costumes like stormtroopers or high fantasy and what not but i still dont remember furries, even then. Outside that week costumes that weren't period were heavily frowned upon and period doesn't mean vaguely medieval, that faires is set during the regin of Henry the 8th. Firmly tudor period. If you showed up in elizabethian fasion instead people would correct you.
