Do people that buy EVs deserve to be locked inside and burned to death in their cars or should consumers be protected from hazardous badly engineered technology?
How is this political?
>>542087934Elon is a retarded faggot.Has nothing to do with the technology and everything with him being a narcissistic ketamine addict.
>>542087997buying a tesla means you are directly supporting fascism.
>>542088019it has to do with the technologybatteries, when damaged or cheaply produced, short out and cause a fire that you can't extinguishif you're locked inside you're in for a inevtibale painful terrible death
Let them live in their 'we live in le future' world. Theyll find out eventually the shortfalls of green energy when their ecar breaks and the production line stopped because of oil shortages.
>>542087934Politically speaking, yes, i do believe so
>>542087997It's not>>542088031KYS turkroach
>>542087934If you buy a flaming death trap it is your problem to learn how to escape it.
>>542087997>>542088168paid niggers and fanatics ruin the internetshame on you
>>542087934>>542088199In China EV doors are required to have mechanical locks, so that people can get out of the vehicle in case of a fire. We should have the same rule here imo.
>>542087934Which part of EVs frustrates you the most? The fact that almost any EV is faster than your shitbox or that people don't have to give a shit about the current oil prices when refueling their automobile?
>>542088248it's that simple but they couldn't have foreseen that electronic locks are a bad ideai'm deeply concerened about the engineering department
>>542087934modern cars are so retarded>doorhandles electric only>steer by wire>brake by wire>electric mirrors>electric seats>9999 bajillion sensors and computers>screens everywhere"Oh but we improved the fuel economy by 3 mpg come spend $80,000 to save $400 in fuel every year"
>>542088614i have a grudge on contemporary engineers and the consumers that buy their shitfucking retards
>>542088248World champion level at "problems that didn't need to exist"Doorhandles are simple, cheap and reliable but some dork just HAD to fuck it up somehow
>>542088248they're banning pop out door handles tooso elons toaster with wheels can be opened by the fire fighters trying to extinguish you. Telsa can't design shit
>>542088248tesla doors are fucking retarded
>>542088282you got that the other way around. you gayboys are highly amusing to me>have 25 year old shitbox diesel>tinkered with ECU a little for more power>run it on heating oil for tax reasons>see tesla fag approaching behind>increase rpm's, clean out the exhaust filterpic related
>>542088656I'm a contemporary engineer, and my car is coming up on 1 year old now. It's brilliant, I love everything about it. It absolutely fits the bill of a gorillion sensors and screens, and it's better because of it.>>542088659After using power sliding rear doors for a while, you feel like an absolute peasant having to open your own door.
>>542088957>25 years old>Exhaust filterRetard. Also, that Tesla has a HEPA cabin filter so he can't smell shit.
>>542089142Take it easy on that guy. He doesn't even know that modern cars have air filters other than the one in the engine bay he hasn't touched since he bought the car.
>>542088207>despite being their chamber mates still hates DA J000000Z
>>542087934cars today are insane. in the 1980s when you pulled the door handle it would unlock the door automatically. now there is no lock, no door handle, can't roll the window down. these EVs were definitely made so they could robo-kill the occupants. even the e-brake is computer controlled, lol.
>>542089099i really hope your car has electronic locks
>>542089142who's the retard? some brands have been installing particle filters long before it became mandatory. mines a 2002 and the model comes with a soot filter since 2000i know about cabin filters, i'm not trying to give them cancer. just the sight of slightly smokey non-gay technology makes you faggots seethe like you're doing right now and it's funny as hell
>>542089099I'm an engineering student. The plan is to keep driving an AU until I can't any more. I can't really comprehend what features a car should have that it doesn't already, it even lets you wind the windows up or open the boot after you pull the key out. Most new car stuff just strikes me as "why" or "I'd pay extra specifically not to have that" (like traction/stability control). The old falcon has LSD, ABS, RWD, AC and a radio and that's about all I want.
>>542089604based. they're banning the sale of new ICE cars here in a few years so my plan is a a month before, go find good deals on one and drive it until it can't be repaired any more
dont make me tap the webm
>>542087934holy shit thanks man for putting that circle and arrow there or else i never would've known where to look on this picture
>>542087934Why is this a question? A black kweens thread died for this.
>>542089675Wew. Breddy imbressive
>>542089471Obviously. One of my previous cars was made in '94 and even it had electronic locks. But it also obviously has a mechanical override built into the regular handles. Even the sliding doors, if you pull them hard enough, will open with no power.Electronic locks are a nice feature. I can lock my car by pushing a button on the door handle, or the key fob, or an app on my phone.>>542089509Just FYI, my car is also a diesel.>>542089604>StudentThen listen up child. Rear-view cameras are an absolute game changer, and top-down cameras are an entire power tier above that. Everything else is a nice-to-have, if you can afford it. Hands-free driving, for example, is fucking brilliant on the freeway.
>>542089708>poolish>intellectuals
>>542089847>my car is also a diesel.shamehop in your horribly engineered ev so we can watch you burn
>>542089847rear view cameras are only necessary on new cars because they've gotten so much bigger, higher and with thicker pillars. Older cars have better visibility and it's not needed. (I agree that basically every SUV should have a rear camera)I should put the throttle-lock back on my motorbike, then I'd have hands free driving (you can steer a bit without hands by leaning)Also, forgot cruise control. That's a good feature. I thought everything new would have it (since a 28 year old Falcon does) but some cheapo 2021 rental (my dad had it for a few days so I test drove it) didn't.It makes me sad that new cars all stuff everything into touchscreens instead of having physical buttons, knobs and analog gauges.
>>542088614>cars are so retardedGet into many accidents? I don't why are you so accident prone anon?
>>542088957>tesla behind youFake story he'd have passed you easily.
>>542087934Same as getting your face eaten by your pitbull
>>542087934only if they drive the cucktruck
>>542090324My Carnival actually has by far the best visibility of any car I've owned, including an EF and an FG Falcon. But yes, it's big enough that the cameras are extremely helpful.Hands-free driving isn't LITERALLY hands-free in that you take your hands off the wheel. It just steers for you and adjusts your speed. The thing with all of these little features is that they genuinely do add up to the overall experience of the car. You understand that cruise control is good, well adaptive cruise is better. And hands-free is better than that. Even just things like a heads-up display and a digital rear view mirror which sound like gimmicks, are actually really nice once you're using them. Or being able to remotely start the car so that the heater/AC is already working by the time you get in.
elon musk is a retard and a menace

>>542090830Any problems with the new (post 2010) cars for reliability?Funny enough that the least reliable vehicle I've known is a Honda VTR 250, although it's at least fixable at home. The 98 Falcon has been in the family for most of its life, and hasn't ever failed to start. The '12 Territory is a hard starter and once didn't, needs the most repairs (probably due to the extra weight stressing the suspension), and the rear camera keeps failing. Some of the extras would probably matter more to other people than with my mentality. I tend to drive/ride in silence and without a GPS/map (it's becoming a lost skill, my sister can hardly do the simplest trips without it) but I think most people just want to put on a podcast and zone out.
>>542088656>and the consumers that buy their shitYou do realize i have no fucking choice, right? It's not like there are great, reliable, low cost 7 seater family cars that won't cost me an arm and leg in gas prices. You cant even buy car assistance insurance on 15+ y/old vehicles. Hf going on a road trip with the family without that
>>542089675The issue with this is that china would have 0 safety on that battery discharge. Would sure suck to be next to that thing if it triggered.
>>542093406>VTR 250Do the little ones have the same exploding cam chain tensioner issues the big ones do? In my experience the biggest reliability issues newer cars have are related to the batshit hyper thin oil viscosities they run from factory and call for. When you feed them the stuff they were originally designed for, not the stuff that gains them .5mpg on their testloop there aren't any standout issues we weren't dealing with back in the 80s and 90s. Certain transmissions are made of glass (I'm looking at you acura 8speed autos) but that's nothing new. I guess the suite of challenges direct injection presents counts too but a lot of mfgs are moving away from that or toward a hybrid system like toyota has been using that uses a port injector as well to alleviate the carbon buildup issues straight GDI causes.
>>542090471how do you prevent an 80yo ramming his car into yours while youre standing at a traffic light? your battery gets a dent, it's now shorting and will burn you alive because you can't leave your car
>>542093777you prevent it by having batteries that don't burn
>>542093572bitchmade excuses by a bitchmade "man"
>>542093825sorry those are only for superior chinese drivers, not longnose smelly ape people
>>542089675>walking from your car to the dentist's office>a slab of material breaks your ankles, and then explodes into flames while you're tangled up in it
>>542093572>locking your entire family inside a death trapi don't want to be there when you realize you can't get out and the flames keep rising
>>542094379Sour grapes huh?
>>542087997Its part of a large scale anti Elon Musk influence that has been going on for a quite a while.
>>542093652Haven't heard of any particular issues on the VTR 250s, mine has had a few electrical problems though. The manual is very "whatever" about the oil (10W30 to 20W50 is fine) and mine's on 15W50.>>542093572Huh? They don't let you buy roadside assistance on them? Crazy. I'd trust my 30 year old shitbox even without it though.
