Historically, the CAD was worth about .82 USD. Starting under Trudeau, the Canadian Fed has artificially kept it around .70.
This is to boost exports and reduce imports from the USA, and it's a dick move to pull on our neighbor and direct trading partner. The Canadian Libs were warned over and over this policy would eventually bite us in the ass, and now here we are.

Are you high? CAD was worth around .70 USD most of the time, dropped WAY below that in the 90s. It jumped way up during the Harper years due to oil and it crashed back down BEFORE Trudeau during the 14-15 oil crash. It's hovered around there since.

When the CAD is low, it incentivized Americans purchasing things in Canada.
Something sold for 1000$ in Canada vs 800$ in the US still comes out to 700$ for an American because of the exchange rate. Even with a 10% tariff it is still cheaper to buy in Canada.

Meanwhile this policy makes buying anything in the USA cost 30% more by default for Canadians. Tough to find any good deals this way.

By controlling interest rates. That's how "money creation" happens in our kiked out system.

> This means you are printing money, making the population poorer
> They can't afford stuff from outside
> Internal stuff can be afforded with loans from printed money
> Effectively behaves like a money transfer to those who buy local (similar to what trump does)
Like this?

Devaluing your currency with respect to international trade is not that simple.
You effectively have to take money away from them (printing money), and then give back only if they buy local.
> Or not give back at all, give to government and big corpo
> Boost business while keeping poulation poor
> Then incentivise corpo to buy local
> Locals are poor, so they can't afford product from wealthier nations
?????
Like this?

Low interest rates means people take more loans. Loans aren't given out based on existing money anymore. Banks don't lend you money they held. They create an entry for your loan, and the quantity plus interest is created as you pay it (very simplified version).
The more loans happen, the more "money is created" the lower the value of the total money.
Higher interest rates means less of all that, means currency value remains static, or comparatively increases if everyone else has their rates low.
This isn't the only mechanism but it's the main one.
Interest rates themselves are set by the rates a central bank is willing to sell bonds at. Which means how much of a return people buying said bonds can expect.
>>
He is becoming increasingly unhinged as the walls close in on him
>>
>>542101660
>>542101739
Let's make an example:
At the beginning the CAD and USD are equally valuable (arbitrary example).
> Canada prints money, reducing the value of currency to half
> They have double the money for US stuff
> Now population has to pay twice as much
> But they also have twice as much (since they printed it)
> No change

The only thing that actually works is ANY form of taking away money from population to control spending. Or direct tariffs. Or some other form of influencing choice.

Inflation is not inherently enough.
>>
>>542102084
I’m not an expert, but I know enough to know it’s complicated, partly because there’s no “internal” vs “external” currency and those currencies are traded relative to each other and different economic zones (“countries”) have different resources that are also traded globally. It’s also dynamic with respect to the availability of different resources (and money due to debt issuance and the like). Markets generally set the relative prices for currencies, governments are reactive. Fit all this to an exponential decay curve as all governments debase their currencies against real assets because they’ve issued excessive debt to pay for promises made by previous governments, and so on and so forth.

>Why trump is so persistent on destroying what’s left of the US empire?
The current global economic system established in the 70s is essentially the USA trading their currency to the rest of the world in exchange for tangible goods.
The only reason the world accepts this is because the US plays world police. The core of this is maintaining the safety of water ways for trade.
The result of such a system on the USA has been a massive influx of goods from the world over, which greatly disincentivised local production.
This system was fine for decades because of the massive economic growth hiding the flaws and cracks in the system. But now the money has dried up, the party is over so the Americans need to change the deal again, this time reshoring production, starting with things critical to nationhood such as Steel, Aluminium, Energy, Processors, etc...
Such a large about-face looks like destruction to us.

>>542102470
The value of your currency should be unchanged under internal trade. Because the value represented by the currency is constant (short term). Because it is a floating currency, value change (inflation) never actually matters outside of who controls the money.

The only reason printing money matters, is because it transfers money to those that get supported by the state.
So basically giving loans can artificially create an incentive to buy internally.

So what matters is restricting choice artificially.

I used to love Canada. but since 2010 or so something massively wrong has happened to them - obviously their politics and government has been taken over by WEF globalists starting with Trudeau the clown Freeland etc. They are only getting worse now. They are a destroyed country much like South Africa, the UK, Australia, New Zealand and partially the USA. I'd say lets go ahead an annex Alberta and let themselves continuing destroying themselves, but also build border walls along the entire border as eventually their pajeet/niggers will certainly be clamoring to come into the usa.

Neither of you understand the ethic and regional divides in Canada, clearly.
Canada was always British and America absorbing Canada is just a natural progression following the collapse of the British Empire. So at the end of the day nothing worth understanding.

> The CAD has been under the 0.8 mark for USD 28 out of the last 76 years. Of those, 11 are the last 11 years.
>This isn't the normal exchange rate. It's especially not normal for it to be so consistently low. It's being manipulated as a manner of policy.

From September 1939 to September 1950 and May 1962 to May 1970 the Canadian dollar was a pegged currency. Of course I wouldn’t expect someone supporting simple goy from the prairies to know that.

Nothing is set in stone quite yet. If Canada can't become a superpower separate from the US, they seem content on making it very difficult for the US to consolidate here.

There are a quite a few possible timelines here.

Why is he angry at Canada now anyways? Did he see all the zoomers online talking about how much better it is than the United States of Pissrael in every fundamental way and it sent him into a tard meltdown?
>>

I don't know, I don't understand it. It's like we're both seen as completely irrelevant to the US and also the arch nemesis of the US that warrants this much time and resources to be concerned about.

Yes he loved Israel, hated sending any foreign aid to other countries(understandable) but in his mind America had a duty to bankroll Israel. Yes he exclusively listened to Ben Shapiro, Mark Levine and Matt Walsh, threw a bitchfit when I suggested he listen to Darryl Cooper.

>Historically, the CAD was worth about .82 USD. Starting under Trudeau, the Canadian Fed has artificially kept it around .70.
>This is to boost exports and reduce imports from the USA, and it's a dick move to pull on our neighbor and direct trading partner
you made this up. completely false

>The CAD's position around the low-to-mid 70-cent mark over the last decade is driven by fundamental market forces rather than policy manipulation: [1]
>The Commodity Factor: The CAD is widely traded as a "commodity currency." Its strength is deeply tied to global energy and raw material prices—particularly crude oil. When oil prices collapsed in late 2014 and 2015, the CAD naturally plummeted from near-parity down into the mid-$0.70s. [1] (https://www.exchangerates.org.uk/CAD-USD-spot-exchange-rates-history-2015.html)
>Interest Rate Differentials: Forex investors move capital toward central banks with higher interest rates. The gap between the US Federal Reserve’s benchmark interest rates and the Bank of Canada’s rates heavily influences how much the US Dollar (USD) outpaces the CAD.
>A Broadly Strong US Dollar: The USD has experienced a massive, decade-long bull run against nearly all global currencies, driven by strong US economic growth and safe-haven asset inflows.

>Unlike countries that peg their currency, Canada has used a flexible, free-floating exchange rate system since 1970. The value of the CAD is determined entirely by open market forex supply and demand. The Bank of Canada (the country's independent central bank, not a "Fed") does not target a specific exchange rate or intervene to artificially suppress the dollar's value.
>>
>>542113721

>By controlling interest rates. That's how "money creation" happens
no, this isn't right. the interest rates influence how much money PRIVATE BANKS create, not the state. the canadian state is responsible for about 5% of inflation. the rest is caused by banks lending money, and they don't really lend at all. they create the money and the debt to the bank at the same time, and sell the paperwork for the debt on the open market for under face value. the loan agreement is a promissory note, a promise to pay in the future and is a legal financial instrument. when loans are made so that already existing assets change hands, you end up with inflation because the money supply grows while assets stay the same. and the rich always use borrowed money because the interest is tax deductible. so in a roundabout way the government allows this to happen through tax laws that favour the upper classes at the expense of the rest of us.
https://youtu.be/c8sN_hPHjgY
canada does not control the value of the dollar vis a vis the us dollar, that is done through pure supply and demand, market forces.
>>

Canadian media is LITERALLY state-sponsored propaganda. more than 60% gov funding. They all circled the wagons and covered up Justin Trudeau's pedophilia at west grey academy (only the buffalo chronicle covered it) that got him kicked out of teaching, just like they covered up the tranny (sorry ehhh... "GUNPERSON") that did a school shooting in tumbler ridge. Now they want us to "rally around the flag," so no. Fuck them, I hope the USA bombs ottawa into the fucking ground.
