The only country comparable or with a greater focus on security I've been to is Israel, but the Rwandans are leagues ahead of the Europeans. Plenty of police and armed security in the capital. Metal detectors basically at every mall entrance. Further East towards Congo in the national park forest military guards and patrols on the highways. Congo is a shithole and the Rwandans make sure it doesn't spill over to them. On the contrary, they fund some Tutsi militias on the Congo side to keep the Hutu extremists who migrated there in 1994 busy so they won't come back for round 2. Also, nobody said it but I assume/hope one day they carve out a small chunk of Congo to restore the borders of the former Rwandan kingdom.Generally from what I've seen and been told, Rwandans are less violent and more chill than other Africans. Still, from a Western perspective you barely notice it because it's still full of beggars, scammers, thieves and corruption is still an issue.As a Christian, I judge Africa by the standards of 7th century Europe; that's about the point in timen when we had the same time with Jesus as the Rwandans had since the 19th century. So they still have ways to go but at least in Rwanda I have hopes. Provided Kagame set up a proper successor that will continue building instead of squandering the achievements of the past 30 years.
