Napoleon was clearly an almost messianic-like figure who never actually existed. He was a complete fiction invented by the Apollonian cult
It wasn't just Napoleon. Never forget that Catholic France allied with the Protestant Princes in 30 years war and also the Ottomans in the long war of Christendom against Islamic hordes.

Size of debt doesn't matter. Interest paid does. If rates are cheap then you should just borrow to invest.America's debt isn't really a big problem because rates are still very cheap. Total interest spend is very low as %gdp. The US economy is so powerful that it has a lot of room to raise taxes and cut spending.Europe's debt problem isn't bad just yet. The European problem is the gulf between its frugal protestant north and its profligate papist south. This gap is somewhat priced with yield differentials but the gap is artificially shrunk by the ECB whose primary goal is to maintain the EU above all else. If this gap is tested sufficiently, esp during fiscal shocks like war or a new pandemic, then the EU is cleft in two.
