the over 40 thing is real. but ive only worked at startups recently. Im an engineering manager and do a lot of hiring, i can only think of one guy i hired who was over 40 and that could very well be because everyone else was getting screened out. And I also told them to let me screen resumes myself to show them what i want to see, so I actually got in ahead of the recruiter woman before she could bin perfectly good candidates.

But yeah I would just cut enough work off your resume so you're ~30-something. Say you're female and black (they say they cant see that shit anyway) and make your name somewhat vague so it doesn't immediately scream native white man. Matt -> Matthias etc, look up the medieval version of your name or something. And if they call you on it just say that's what you go by.

NGL though, if you have too many nons on the loop you're probably fucked. Or a solo "culture fit" by a non-technical HR hag.
