Trust me I have done this. I have a cabin in Minnesota, it's been in the family since forever ago. And a couple years back the power goes out, it was over a week. Ten days IIRC. Well pump was run off a big deep cycle battery i always keep charged, and a vehicle-type heavy duty inverter. Hot water and stove are gas, no problem. OTOH the fridge was a no-go. I have a couple waterproof bags for canoeing, dry bags they call them, like a huge super heavy duty ziploc. We just filled the bottom with a couple rocks, and put the cream and butter and meats and etc. into ziplocs inside the dry bag and tied it to a rope and dropped it into a creek that feeds the lake from a spring, that's like 40 degree water.At night we used kerosene lamps even though we have LED ones too. Kerosene is just comfier. Outside we would grill, and use those old Coleman style pressure lanterns with the mantle.It's really not so bad. For hot water you can use a black painted vessel, then heat the warm water. Etc.
