Owen Matthews Spectator article (7 Sept 2026) concludes Ukraine is losing.

https://spectator.com/article/ukraine-is-losing-the-war-kushner-witkoff/

Putin has not shifted his 2022 aims and is determined to achieve all SMO goals. Trump offers no genuine new plan beyond ending the war largely on Moscows terms. Kyiv is exhausting money, manpower and interceptors. Recent shuttle diplomacy by Kushner and Witkoff produced no breakthrough: Putin simply restated demands for Donbas, demilitarisation and "denazification." Kushner talked business upside and mutual projects between Russia and the US - Ukraine was less important.

Author stresses Russias vast military-industrial complex is now outproducing the combined capacities of Ukraine and the West in key areas.

New faster, more accurate jet-powered Geran drones, low-cost cruise missiles and ballistic systems are deployed en masse. “Attack has become stronger than defense,” a Ukrainian adviser notes; Ukraine cannot obtain enough interceptors to shield its cities. Russian MIC output and adaptation overcome Western and Ukrainian drone production and shoot-down capabilities. Western deindustrialisation compounds the problem: Europe and the US cannot realistically scale supplies further. Sanctions failed. Fear of escalation and prioritising their own depleted stocks have kept Europeans from sending key offensive systems.

Ukraine faces an imminent €26 bn budget hole, chronic corruption scandals eroding support for Zelensky, and relentless infrastructure destruction. Matthews sees Putin intent on further pressure before imposing his terms, possibly next year, while Europe talks but lacks a workable plan to reverse the industrial and military imbalance.

>On December 5, NABU announced suspicion against MP Anna Skorokhod . According to the investigation, she may have led a criminal group that extorted $250,000 from an entrepreneur.

>Investigators believe that the businessman was offered help in getting the National Security and Defense Council sanctions imposed on a competing company. After transferring some of the funds, he was told that the money would allegedly be transferred to representatives of the National Security and Defense Council. However, this did not happen, as the group members did not find an official who would agree to the illegal actions.

What did they expect? Kremlin warned them about this since march 2022, what every time they reject current peace deal and decide what they can win by waiting out more(with hope of victory) they will be met with worse terms.

It's been laid out to them openly. They are not retaking ground, they are not spawning more units from their barracks. Vespen gas and minerals deposits are not becoming richer.

The official website of Ukraines 148th Separate Artillery Brigade has published a direct message from the brigade commander to the "leadership" in Kiev.

He warns that the character of the war has "changed sharply" and that continuing combat operations under present conditions will "lead to the unit’s destruction".

The commander states that Western supplied systems such as the M777 and CAESAR, have long since become easy targets.

He closes with a direct appeal to Doctator Zelenskyy, as Supreme Commander in Chief, end the war “to restore our honor, which can no longer be won by any of our salvos.”

Not unlike what we're currently being told in Iran; nobody wants to make a deal. Well, I guess also nobody thinks they can make a deal, it's felt that America/NATO are too untrustworthy to make a deal with anyway. Which is more compounded by the perceived over-stretch of the American empire.

>In an Aug 30, 2026 article titled “Unrealistic optimism isnt helping Ukraine,” Owen Matthews notes Ukraines own officials signal far higher casualties than publicly admitted. Former defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov said Ukraine is "gradually, slowly losing" the war. Intelligence chief Gen Kyrylo Budanov stated Kyiv must mobilise at least 30,000 people monthly - "the minimum number needed to maintain what we have" - implying losses greatly exceed official figures by orders of magnitude.

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/08/30/unrealistic-optimism-isnt-helping-ukraine/

>This report outlines how prolonged transfers of artillery shells, air defense interceptors, and precision missiles to Ukraine - compounded by wider regional demands - severely drained critical NATO and U.S. defense inventories.

The thing is, Russia has been really slow in its military build up.
I recall during the cold war, the British army calculated that its entire armoured vehicle fleet in West Germany would be destroyed within a week of a full scale war between NATO and the USSR.
This was the main reason nuclear deterrence was considered the only rational option.
>>
>>542207716
The globohomo West genuinely thought it could topple the Russian government using surplus munitions from 40 years ago and $8 billion dollar wunderwaffen, of which they had maybe two or three in stock. Meanwhile, all European and American industry has been gutted and sold abroad by jews who are looting the countries as fast as possible while dumping brown colonists onto them in order to destroy those nations forever. Russia is winning precisely because it resisted these pressures and is still a functioning nation state with a sense of its ethnic and cultural identity, which the West has entirely abandoned.

Idealism vs realism.

The West thought it could win with gay sex parades and self-abasement through mass-immigration.
Russia thought it could win by building artillery factories.

Guess who was right.

outdated garbage, just like tanks and battleships. all manned expensive equipment is outdated garbage in the age of cheap mass produced drones. yeah, great success. the number of refineries they've hit has tanked in the past few weeks. they've stopped targeting ships in the Azov sea. Why? I thought that was a winning strategy. Jets, battleships, and big tanks are garbage. They're too easy to detect with modern computers and too easy to destroy by spamming cheap, flying drones.

How many USN ships have entered the Strait of Hormuz since February?
How many US tanks have repelled the Iranian proxies that were shelling you in Baghdad back in March?
How many US jets have flown OVER Iran since June?

These pieces of equipment are welfare queens, too costly to produce en masse and too easy to destroy.
