nerds like stallman can't admit to themselves that they predictably helped usher in the modern tyrannical surveillance state. all useful open source is funded by big tech, all digital technology is optimised to extract value from consumers. it was never going to go any other way. he is stuck in the 80s-90s and is coping hard

He harshly criticized WEF agent and grifter Linus Torvalds when he refused to use GPL 3 for Linux hence embracing tivoization for all Linux devices and forbidding you to reinstall another OS on your devices (that's Linus' doing btw). He and the fsf are the real heroes. We could have gotten good things but he couldn't make HURD work as a microkernel. Linus took the easy way in with the monstrosity of the monolithic kernel. He didn't code shit (his contribution is estimated to be 0.1 to 0.2% of the code base). Linus is, or was, great thanks to great developers contributing their time creating it.
