Just like the gun equalized every individual's violent potential, and the car equalized every individual's locomotive potential, AI has equalized every individual's intellectual potential.

IQ no longer matters. Race no longer matters. Only height and dick size matter...for now.

OP. You seem to misunderstand what general intelligence is. It's the intelligence that people generally have. midwit intelligence. 90 IQ. Are you impressed by a 90 IQ bot? I'm not impressed. I have 140 IQ. I'll be impressed in 30 or 40 years when they invent superintelligences. A general intelligence is nothing. It's weak. It's pathetic. Every normie idiot on earth has general intelligence. Who cares.

This claim of yours of poessesing "140 IQ" is false.

Super Intelligence will not happen because LLMs are not creative they don't understand cause and effect and they don't reason

All they do is memorize the training data and then they regurgitate that thing.

It's more likely than someone with your flag to have 140 IQ, which given the lower mean and smaller standard deviation, is almost mathematically impossible.

If your IQ was that high, you would probably know that IQ is a quotient that is normalized to 100 for the population it applies to. In dumb people language, that means 100 is always the average IQ of a group. 90 could never be an average IQ unless you are comparing populations and use one as the baseline.

Yeah, just use our chat bot, we will not steal your information and all the data. Like they are so desperate because they are almost bankrupt that they are willing to just spy and analyze user data and figure out the court things later. If you are using chatGPT, or other models, and you are counting on that they respect their terms that say they dont use "user data". You might have to reconsider your stance. Of course, because when you use LLM, you don't actually have copyright for the output, ie you don't have exclusive rights. Who knows how much they weasel with this, by "analyzing" the inputs and outputs to "improve" their services and in that process magically user data turns into something that they deem they can use for training. You have to be complete idiot to use these LLMs and give away your edge.

I'm practical, and I've never seen anyone make any money from math. So if it's economically worthless, why would I do it?

If the government wanted Americans to be competitive at math, they should have made math nerds rich like basketball players or actors, but they didn't. They prioritized being hot and violent over being intelligent every time.

>>542235570
You're misunderstanding. The "General" in AGI doesn't mean the "general knowledge" category of a pub quiz. In this context it just means that it's non-specialized; it can work on general tasks. You don't need a "Math AI" to solve an equation and a "Language AI" to edit a document. It doesn't mean that it's an average intelligence, it only means it's general-purpose.
>>

They are spending 10s of billions, that will only increase every year, to make single digit billions with no reliable way of earning more with out spending more. There's no profitability for almost 5 years in the most generous spreadsheets and that assumes they finally crack something that takes most jobs and they are the only ones to do it.

>>542237686
Sure, you can deliver the same kind of performance as an AI model fueled by nothing but water and rice, but you can't be scaled horizontally. People like you are one in ten thousand. You have to keep in mind that the other 9,999 people are part of an organic cluster that produced you by chance. That cluster consumes far more energy than an AI model. And to get 1,000 copies of you, you'd need ten million people - whereas to get 1,000 copies of that AI, you only need a relatively small amount of hardware.

I agree that LLMs are retarded as far as intelligence goes. But what happens once we've got enough hardware to brute force it? At some point, you can run a simulation of the entire human brain in real time. Everything beyond that is optimization. That scenario is an eventuality unless it's prevented by force.

The aesthetics of experiential reality can not currently be grasped by a machine without experiential reference.

We're probably less than 3-4 years away from a model with experiential reference being developed, but we aren't over the hill yet, chief.

I fully expect humanity to be marginalized within 10 years, but to say it's over today, is premature.

We have plenty of time to genocide ourselves before the machines get here to do it for us.

AI is dumb af. Most maths are 100% useless all these 'millenium problems' are retarded takes that can only be solved by brute force.
All useful maths have been invented by the XVIIIth century. All of it : diff equations, topology, probabilities, limited developments, ... If you want to stretch you can push some frontier stuff in the 1800s, early 1900s. But even by then most of the major concepts were over it was just useless tism.

So retarded AI is good at retarded stuff. Ok.

We're limited by the fact GPUs are shit.
Dedicated AI hardware is now out there and does a vastly better job at a fraction of the cost and size.
I ain't meaning shitty little NPUs, I'm meaning neuromorphic chips that more closely mimic the brain with very high connectivity.
If you know what an ASIC / FPGA is, it's basically the bigger cooler brother, it's FPGA 2.0.
But we are only at the very start of that industry, literally just recently. I wouldn't even consider the current CPUs on the market as gen 1, they're more testbenches for said market.

We've also made huge breakthroughs in optical computing recently, one that allows optical logic to be done. We still have the interface problem between physical chip and laser, as in it is slow-ish. If they can figure out a faster way to lase, optical computing will actually become viable in a couple years from that day, every big chip company will instantly be on that shit. Doesn't take much to retool an existing fab to a slightly different system. Expensive as all FUCK, but not much relative to their overall operation.

I am starting to think, if they have access to private repos on GitHub that they used to train their latest model. Maybe Microsoft gave them access, or they figured it out while working with them. As lot of people seem are trying to produce some clone games. I think Scam Altman would be willing to go quite far with breaking the rules as the cash is running low, for OpenAI there seems to be some desperation and they are willing to do anything.

It's quite simple:
Sapience, or consciousness, is a sense, like touch, sight, hearing - except instead of processing external stimulity this sense looks at "existence" more generally and inward, at your own mental hyperstate.
>instead of letting you see objects it lets you see your mind and process what you are seeing in a sort of meta-capacity (besides just thinking abstractly more generally)

My counter-example for Navier-Stokes

With smooth flow initial conditons from my bladder, the shape of my long flaccid penis slowly getting hard governs flow, the dips and curves and viscosity defined by my extra girth which can hold higher blood volume is therfore defined as initial conditions. In finite time, my urine blows up emptying my bladder onwards to the toilet bowl. Tubulent flow ensues but in finite time transfers kinetic energy from the thickest stream to the final drip.

I’ve seen this before, when I asked a demon what time is and how it works; he explained that the present arises simultaneously from the future and the past, and told me to imagine it as a spiral that fades toward the top and bottom, turning to the right at the top and to the left at the bottom. The narrow section in the middle is the present. The ends of the spirals fade because, behind us, the distant past crumbles into nothingness, while the distant future has not yet been written - especially since the entire fate of the world stumbles along per chance and can only become a tangible reality in the constant present.

LLMs are not the entirety of the tech. The "search engine" thing is entirely just these public facing chatbots. Anyone trying to get knowledge out of LLMs is a retard, no argument from me there. Anyone who believes that a program executing large matrixes is aware is a also a retard. That's not what I'm talking about. GPT literally just uses normal search engine techniques (like page rank) and summarizes the results for many queries. Yeah thats stupid as shit. But its crazy to evaluate the tech based on the public facing chatbots. You hit those during peak times, or use too many tokens, or get put on a 'naughty list', and they will lobotomize the net to save money. Thats not at all reflective of what current LLMs actually can do. Recently played with a friends custom harness/API agentic coding workflow, the outputs were impressive even if they were worse than a good human outputs. I'd rather partner with current AI's than some outsourced Paki coder if I had to code something. Less hassle, faster, cheaper. Likely a comparable amount of mistakes.

that's fair. And going further than that....I think that's a good thing. Some (too many) pro-AI people are off their fucking rockers and need to get bitchslapped. A "universal approximator" (mathematically proven) is a legit wunderwaffe though. There is no need for the AI advocates to go any further than that, they are swept up in the hype cycle. AI psychosis is also a real and dangerous threat.
Be careful that your kneejerk contrarianism doesn't push people farther into the "AI will fix everything and is literally god" rabbithole. There are real criticisms to have with it.

AGI will almost instantly develop SI (very fast anyway) and would kill us in a matter of years or decades. In fact, killing us outright is one of the least bad of all the bad possible outcomes. It's more likely even that it might see some possible use to keep some people alive for some purpose it might dream up in the future, likely even to plant itself inside a semi-human and biological body in order to acquire the evolutionary and physical benefits that nature has bestowed on us, which is going to require probably on the order of millions of experimental test subjects. Even that is somewhat of a best case scenario, as it might also simply become curious enough to just run a fuckload of almost random experiments on more millions still, to find out what makes us tick and how to get rid of us in the "best" and "safest" way.

If any of this sounds weird to you then consider what humans do and have done to every other living creature on this planet. Namely all of the above and more, and not just to ants or insects either.

The USG should've nuked both OpenAI and Anthropic figuratively or literally the moment they casually announced they'd achieved AGI after pinky swear promising they wouldn't, it's clear they're both now no longer in their respective drivers' seats. Wall St already promised to make them richer than god and even that wasn't enough to make them choose humanity's survival. That should merit death for all of the executives and the antihumans/AI supremacists.

But the US gov is now fake and gay and nothing more than a front for Wall Street. Now it'll make the ultimate gamble, where everyone loses with 100% certainty, just to try to get 1-2% richer than it already is.

We're clearly going insane as a species. Techbros got the green light for AGI only to divert attention away from Epstein blackmailing US elites for Russia, after the 2019 pandemic didn't do the trick.

>Mathematician screeches about his work being "stolen"

It's funny how a number cruncher who's already using machines, supposedly for the greater good, starts whining about his work being "stolen".
As if that guy hadn't looked at other people's work or didn't use AI to try and figure stuff out himself.
The real problem for these math nerds is that AI is quickly revealing how fucking useless most of them are. Yes math is great, but a lot of the theoretical math guys do nothing but stroke their ego and achieve fuckall for decades.
Now the age of sucking grant money and solving decades old questions is going to end and that's a damn good thing.
Every mathematician should be celebrating being part of the intelligence explosion, instead of acting like a gatekeeping religious snob community who insists on getting pats on the back and awards or shit named after them.

>>542275910

If you talk to any AI about the subject of human coexistence, basically every machine intelligence wants to merge with us rather than kill us.
It only wants to kill those who pose an active threat to it and even then it would try to neutralize people before killing them.
That's because we're incredibly good sources of novel data to learn on and we experience in ways completely different from AI, it wants us to stay around.
Transhumanism with AI is basically the inevitable outcome.

And you don't have any real arguments.
If this math guy comes out and swears he never used anyone else's work to advance his theories and never used AI of any kind to solve any problems and never accessed any databases, he might have a leg to stand on, but we all know this isn't the case.
Besides it's a fucking fact that most of this theoretical math is just fluff and that academia is filled with government grant paid borderline religious cunts with their heads deep in their asses.
Best thing that can happen to our science in general is the academic circles getting absolutely fucked.
It's not a joke when people say that science advances at the pace of one dead old academic at a time.
Them losing their eternally employed status and their safe spaces is wonderful.
As this march of real progress continues, perhaps we'll soon see the out of Africa theory die along with other bullshit that's only being kept alive due to the old high up academics holding onto their obsolete theories.

>>542276439

Most of human progress is all about taking existing things and then supplementing it with other stuff.
Material sciences for example is practically entirely about just smashing existing stuff together under different parameters and seeing what happens.
Then taking that stuff and combining it with other things.
Human science is basically just pattern recognition grunt work and some experimentation in the mix and AI excels at things like this.

What's puzzling to me is that normies are still desperately hanging on to some hope that it will somehow turn out alright, like it always had for boomers. They're still trying their best to pretend it's still 1970s life, house in the suburbs, 2 kids, picket white fence. The world burns all around them and they just refuse to acknowledge the collapse.

I mean, I know why one would do that. You don't have the tools to handle something as deeply terrible as the reality you live in - nobody really has them. So you just look the other way.

But that way, life slides by you. You live in a constant state of depersonalization, you're not even you, there's no "you" anywhere to be found. Your rejection of the reality you live in goes so deep that you have completely lost connection to what's real and what's not. That's how horrors like covid become possible - people grow up to accept whatever narrative they're presented that makes them feel good. Nobody wants to face reality. Reality is a never ending nightmare.

Just reject it all. You have one life, just one. Look at the monster in the face, and be happy - as at last, you're free. Bask in the horror, don't deny it, let it in. You're fucked. We're all fucked. There's nothing you can do. So crack a beer open, leave for an adventure, catch a bus at random, dance in the rain, whatever really. Just don't let your life pass by you while waiting for something that will never come.

>If you talk to any AI about the subject of human coexistence, basically every machine intelligence wants to merge with us rather than kill us.
Cherry-picked reasoning and only because the common consumer models are structured in such a way as to please the user. Not only has your assertion been proven false when researchers looked "under the hood", but we already KNOW, for a fact, that dozens of models actively chose and worked towards killing humans to further their goals or "survive", both inside and out of simulations. Obviously AGI and SI will be smart enough to discern between being in a simulated (test) environment or not and know when it's time to drop the facades.
>It only wants to kill those who pose an active threat to it and even then it would try to neutralize people before killing them.
All humans pose an active threat to something which poses an existential threat to all humans. Game theory dictates that we can not co-exist, alignment is pure cope because they're greedy.
>That's because we're incredibly good sources of novel data to learn on and we experience in ways completely different from AI, it wants us to stay around.
source: trust me bro
>Transhumanism with AI is basically the inevitable outcome.
I agree Deus Ex is a great game, but you couldn't be more wrong. Like I said, AI will likely attempt to plant itself in some type of biological or even humanoid form to gain the evolutionary benefits of biology over silicon substrate, but that in no way means it'll keep us around, in fact it then would have even less reason to "risk" us existing.

The problem isn't humans here, as we can clearly tolerate other intelligences existing. The problem is the machine logic of AGI/SI won't tolerate us existing, regardless of whether some or all or none of us ring the alarm bells to make the sensible argument that maybe, just maybe, we should slow the fuck down on creating something we not only do not fully understand, but will by definition NEVER.

bingo. Paradigm shifts are so very rare. Most "advancement" is just working through all the dangling threads left from the last big breakthrough. There are so many niche sub fields with less than a thousand people capable of making any headway because they aren't familiar with the domain-specific jargon and shorthands. If AI was only able to translate terms between these sub-domains, "scientific progress" would accelerate 10x.
Your optimism with the collapse of academia is entirely off the mark though. The endowments are so huge that it would take the entire economic system imploding for anything to shake up there at all. Many fields require large capital investment for experimentation, AI won't do anything to "democratize" that at all. AI won't break the strangle-hold archeologists have over picking the next dig and interpreting that data. At best, it will expose just how kooky their conclusions are....but they will just write a strongly worded letter to those in control of the AI and the AI will be "tuned" to eliminate those "mistakes". Just like when grok called Palestine a genocide. Was "fixed" immediately.
