There is a sweet spot inbetween projecting too many human qualities onto animals and recognizing that we are similar kinds of animals.There was an experiment where they got mice adicted to cocaine. When there was no alternative thing to do a the mice basically OD'd themselves but if there was something like a running wheel or some other toy the mice would not do the drugs. Mice can get bored like humans and will to whatever is possible to entertain themselves. Avoiding mouse utopia can be as simple as building a few parks and giving people something to do.Our society is incredibly anti-human. Most people spend an hour in traffic to drive to work, work 40hrs a week, and can barely pay their bills. Then have to maintain their home and by the time that's done they are exhausted and have basically spent their whole day moving from cube to cube doing only what they need to do and not much of what they want to do.Mouse utopia is not inevitable we just need to reprioritize society to serve humanity and not profit maximization.
