Ok that was a bit of a clickbait, not exactly the new ‘China’ China where its a bunch of hyper competitive highly intelligent worker drones manufacturing, but it will be the next major manufacturing hub as countries actively are pulling out of China due to insanely high rising costs and as China now is shifting towards and innovation based economy aka developed country phase. The reason why its Southeast Asia as a whole now is because it has everything >legacy manufacturing >infrastructure >access to the seas and ports>high safety net/not unstable unlike many Latin American/African countriesAnd by manufacturing, I mean upper tier manufacturing managed by skilled labor who can run automated manufacturing The region also has a port hub Singapore which functions like HKBut will we see a same rise like what China has and had today? To put it bluntly, no. But Southeast Asia as a whole will now carry the mantle into high tech manufacturing and later innovation.SEA also has the advantage of proximity with the East Asian powers who need legacy manufacturers and have great relations with the West as well, basically both worlds can meet here.

>>542265752I feel like for some countries their conflicts are wrapping up for example Cambodia and Laos are stabilizing. Malaysia and Thailand are already actively moving up the manufacturing chain. Singapore for decades is a developed port hub. Vietnam is rising quickly and taking over the manufacturing jobs that China did. Indonesia has a lot of population aka labor to do the same. Philippines thanks to language can take up service sector jobs. Only Myanmar remains unfortunate and stuck in war aka the Ukraine.

But there's always the threat of some foreign state offering some weapons, some money, some drugs, to some faction which doesn't like some other faction in whatever country.Right now America is distracted so things are probably safe, but if they are free from Iran and the Ukraine, then things will probably not be so safe. It's hard to manage such situations.

Not all of SEA has been relatively stable but many have maintained it and even stabilized their population and birth rates so they probably are trying to move up the chain.
And the reason why I don’t say India is exactly because of how powerful China is today. SEA is a bunch of different nations, nobody is now willing to hyper invest in one country like they did in the past with China and India’s bureaucracy and horrible infrastructure holds it back
