I spent about three weeks without any screens. No internet. No televisions. No smartphone. So I can say without any doubt: THE SCREEN IS THE PROBLEM.

I do not mean what is on the screen. I do not mean television is the problem as opposed to social media, or blogs and essays as opposed to video games. I MEAN THE SCREEN. I mean the device that uses light in order to put pre-chosen, passive, information into the viewer's head.

There's three main reasons why screens are THE problem.

1) THE HUMAN BRAIN HAS NO WAY OF INTERPRETING IT.
There is nothing in nature that prepares the human brain for the screen, which by nature shows things that aren't there. "Seeing is believing" is a truism for real world, but the screen has only two things alike in nature: hallucinations and dreams.

2) IT IS INERT EXCEPT WHEN SHOWING THINGS OUTSIDE OF THE VIEWER'S CONTROL
The screen, outside of the most basic and rudimentary usage not seen since computers of the 70s, can only show what has already been created by someone else. It also tends towards passive consumption, meaning the viewer simply imbibes what the sender of the image chooses. "But I choose what I view" is a cope.

3) IT SHRINKS THE LOCAL AND FLATTENS THE UNSEEN LARGER WORLD
This sounds counter productive, because people like to think that thanks to the screen they know more about the world, BUT THIS IS A FICTION. The screen in fact makes the lived-in world seem small, and makes the large world beyond your environment seem flat. On the screen a continent is the same size as a kitchen table.

This is without even getting into it being an imagination shredder (Don't believe me? Imagine Aragorn without it being Viggo Mortisen)

Let me introduce you to blue light filter.
But I agree. It's the stimulation of the screen. In large part. That causes intoxicated adhd scrolling for hours, skimming skimming skimming.

screens are great, I have like 10 screens myself (computer and phones/tablets and TVs all included).
truly one of the best inventions ever made.

>There is nothing in nature that prepares the animal brain for the mirror, which by nature shows things that are there but aren't there.
despite this, however, many animals can pass a self recognition test, without any effort or even understanding of how it works in any way

>THE HUMAN BRAIN HAS NO WAY OF INTERPRETING IT.
how old are you?

>IT IS INERT EXCEPT WHEN SHOWING THINGS OUTSIDE OF THE VIEWER'S CONTROL
even a kid can share their phone screen to it

>IT SHRINKS THE LOCAL AND FLATTENS THE UNSEEN LARGER WORLD
you can watch your local tv station

Reminds me that black mirrors are used for black magic to see visions in darkness, and monitors are all black mirrors. Makes you think.

It's the light it emanates, but whatever.
Don't believe me?
Get something you can entertain yourself with in mostly total Darkness.
Go spend time in Darkness with it .
Case in point, my suggestion: Arranger/musical kb.
You can ger a200 - Yamaha PSR E 383, or a 320€ Roland Go Keys 3. The Roland is amazing for the price. But you gotta learn some playing, try learning by ear/sight.
I guarantee, playing in the dark will make you feel nicer.

"animals" covers birds too, it's not just mammals

The issue isn't the blue light. It's the actual function of the device, besides studies have shown that different colour artificial lights still hve negative effects because they are unmoored from the full light spectrum we are accustomed to.

This is not comparable. 1) the mirror test is a mirror, not a screen, 2) the mirror has a contained view, 3) screens are unlimited in a way a mirror is not.

Imagine a mirror test, but what it shows is a plane, with its flight path being a representation f your movements and facial expressions. Would you pass such a mirror test.

>you can watch your local tv station
Which is still not going to be an accurate portrayal of even local events because 1) time constraints, 2) the biases of the medium, 3) the issue of who decides what is and isn't news.

Ask yourself why you stare at a phone screen every day but have never once seen one in a dream.

weirdly enough the sole lucid dream I have ever had was triggered by seeing myself in a mirror in a dream, which I can't recall ever happening in one before

I have, it's always nearly impossible to correctly navigate the phone in dreamworld. It is interesting though with how much time we spend on them, they don't appear more often in dreams

Voice of God tech doesn't need a screen, niggerlips. Injectable biosensors don't use them either. The screen isn't the problem, leccy is. You are leccy though--everything is.

What about for recording music bro, tape or tracking direct to drive is annoyingly limited and near impossible to edit, you're literally just looking at a UI of a mixing board
