There is a distinction between doing what society encourages you to do and doing something because you want to, and it's not just agency. When you do something that society encourages you to do, you don't know the purpose. Everything is ritualized. You follow the ritual, and you're awarded for accuracy. Granted, this system can effectively organize retards into intelligent action, but we're not retards, are we?If you do something, you have to actually choose it based on "telos" (the root idea or nature of a thing), otherwise, you're merely copying what your superego did and pretending it was unique. This is really important to understand. You should observe patterns in people who are merely acting out the role that they think society wants them to play, rather than choosing it for themselves. Many of these people will tell you it was chosen, and most of those won't think it's a lie. The test is (a) whether they know what the telos is, and (b) do they support the telos? Some will argue that they don't support the telos of a thing, but they participate anyway because it gives them net benefit. There is a rational angle here that is true, but the higher principle rejects the need for this kind of compromise on a number of things.
>>we're not retards, are we?Speak for yourself, chump!

>>542322819>The ritual used to work.Ya, then it stopped working, and we don't know who to blame. One view is that you have men and women repeating the ritual without understanding the purpose, and that is actually why fertility rates are crashing and relationships are falling apart. We have lost the belief in the underlying telos. Not the religion which controls its narrative, but the metaphysics itself.
>>542322914It's become like a cargo cult.
>>542322914The word you are looking for is "philia" anon, it is the essence that bonds a population and society together, without philia there can be no high trust society, there can be no prosperity, there can only be degradation until the society collapses under its own weight. Philia is often created in homogeneous societies by default.
>>542325129How does that differ from other kinds of love?
>>542325129>>542325861I bring it up because one definition is something along the lines of "brotherly love", but another definition as the opposite phobia suggests an affinity for an essence. Just wanted to make sure I was understanding you.You know what's interesting about the rise of idealism? It occurs at precisely the same time that philia drops. It is as though idealism is a degeneration of philia.
>>542326043>the opposite phobia*the opposite of phobia
>>542326043Aristotle divides philia according to the three things people find lovable (philēton): the useful, the pleasant, and the good (or virtuous).>Friendship of utility: based on mutual advantage (business partners, political allies, buyer and seller). These tend to dissolve when the usefulness ends.>Friendship of pleasure: based on enjoyment of one another’s company or shared activities (common among the young). These also tend to fade when tastes or circumstances change.>Friendship of virtue (or character friendship): the complete or perfect form (teleia philia). Good people who resemble each other in virtue love one another for who they are, for their character, rather than for incidental benefits or pleasures. These friendships are the most stable and valuable; they involve shared activity in living well and help each person become better.Without these things you cannot have a high trust society.
>>542327739Do you believe there is a full growth and collapse cycle that must inevitably occur, or do you think the cycles are interruptible and changeable? Agency of individuals doesn't imply agency of organization. Though, it's a bit academic if the practical path to intervention isn't there anyway.
>>542329042I believe the world is doomed, I believe irreversible damage has already been done to the only civilizations and peoples who have been shown to be able to create and maintain civilizations in recorded human history. The future of the world looks like one giant central government ruling over the entire planet with a new aristocracy and nobility that are born into positions of power in this new world order, with every square inch of the planet infested with brown subhumans who subsist on UBI and drone deliveries of goyslop, they waste their short lives on designer drugs built by cheap AI, and mindless escapism into entertainment and degeneracy.
>>542329422I believe the major archetypes of myth are the results of 0th and 1st order derivatives of change. The seasons are an example of this concept with respect to temperature and rain, but it applies to personal narratives and civilizations too. The hero's cycle is just the growth cycle. All of these cycles are in some sense bound to continue what they started. The degree of freedom is the fact that individual lives remain separate from the collective, so there is a lot of nesting going on. some things fail while other things survive. A true "apocalypse" would be all of those cycles failing at the same time. That's never happened, but there's still a long way down to go.
>>542330461I believe that only humans can build and maintain human civilization and humanity is an endangered species on the edge of extinction.
>>542329422Do you think Logos refers to collective consciousness?
