BREAKING: YEMEN’S HOUTHIS HAVE COMPLETELY CAPTURED THE BAB EL-MANDEB COASTLINE — seizing MOCHA, taking DHUBAB and capturing the strategic ZUQAR ISLAND in a series of rapid gains that now put the entire chokepoint under COMPLETE HOUTHI CONTROL, per AFP and Reuters sources.

How does the US even manage to be this incompetent? I can understand why they lost in Afghanistan and Vietnam since the insurgents played a different game but the houthis are literally just blitzing through with maneuvers. They are defenseless targets for jets and the US can survey them 24/7 with radar and drones.

Are their own generals sabotaging the war since they no longer want to be good goys for Israel?

It could be that they are now out of range for an attack. Recently Iran started lobbing missiles over U.S. ships and as a result they moved further away.

The UK and Bahrain have requested an urgent meeting at the UN Security Council to discuss the escalation in hostilities between the Houthis and Saudi-backed government forces, with the UN special envoy for Yemen scheduled to brief by video.

No resolution is on the table for a vote, and it is unknown whether Russia and China will block potential UNSC action.

Everyone sane knew that for decades as math simply didn’t add up but they were drowned out by a bunch of /k/osher mental cripples who despite throwing around buzzwords have no fucking idea how conflicts function.

America defeated sub-par politically mutilated army in a limited engagement (cause that’s literally what Desert Storm was, few engagements and Iraqis started retreating) and then based on that outlier they deduced you don’t actually need infantry or artillery or anything, just hyper-expensive planes and boutique-quantity gizmos cause every army you fight are gonna be Iraqi conscripts in a desert.

This was also demonstrated in Ukraine. Using late Soviet equipment and limited quantities of Western AD (cause they don’t have much to spare), Ukrainians basically restricted Russian Air Force to lobbing cheap guided bombs on the front.
Russians adapted and are now pummeling them, but do you see Ukrainian Army collapsing?
Instead of learning their lessons, they just rushed to laugh at Russians even though Russians don’t depend on air power nearly as much as they do, doctrinally.
Insane hubris, common to all fading empires. It’s both fun and frustrating watching it live.

Iraq in theory had a serious army but in reality they didn’t even fight that hard.
But to give you an analogy what Americans did in Desert Storm was the same thing Russians did in Ukraine in 2022.
If Ukraine folded after 4 days, like Iraq did, Russians would’ve achieved a glorious victory of same quality.

Imagine if you derrived your lessons about war from something like that. That’s basically what Americans and NATO did for 30 years.

It would be fair to say that we're trying to downgrade to what we were doing before, yes. It's much weaker now since Iran isn't laying down and taking it like they were under the previous Ayatollah. Obviously the other options are ground invasion or nukes, but I think we're just unwilling to really commit to either, and neither's really a good idea in the first place so...back to sanctions it is. It's an anarcho-tyrannical idea at root I think, we're doing the sanctions not because they will work but because then we can plausibly say we're doing something (sanctions).

Which all SUCKS, I just want my hedonistic pleasures since it's all this country is fucking good for and they're RUINING it.

BIG: CNN reports that 100–200 U.S. military advisers are now on the ground in Saudi Arabia providing real-time intelligence and targeting support against the Houthis — a significant escalation of involvement.

A joint forces command was set up in recent weeks after Iran ramped up support to the Houthis, including deploying hundreds of IRGC officers to Yemen with the goal of shutting down the Bab-el-Mandeb strait.

The U.S. is sharing a Maven-like targeting tool and geospatial support but is not directly participating in strikes or refueling Saudi jets.

This comes as Houthis seized Mokha and now threaten the strait, while the U.S. military is already stretched thin after six months of war with Iran around Hormuz.

One source's quote captures the tension:

This is not the old days.

We literally tried that during operation prosperity garden. We failed. Their air defense is comprised entirely of shoot and scoot SAMs (buks, oshkas etc) thus our SEAD operations are worthless as 99.9% of the time the radar are off. They only turn on with other sightings. This forces us to use standoff munitions only, and we have burned our stockpile of standoff munitions through the last four years.
>ukraine
>vs Yemen
>vs Iran
And we only produce about 1B1B load of stand off munitions every three days. So we have to directly fly over the target, but that it a suicide mission and with the F-35 having a sub 30% combat availability, well we just dont have the airframes. And even the number of pilots is coming up short.

Tl:dr the US is out of ammo, running low on planes and personnel in theatre. Its unironically over.

>How does the US even manage to be this incompetent?

DEI and ESG in the american military started with Obama in 2006. Furthermore, the purchasing power of the dollar has been debased with about 10% annually since 30+ years, but the american military budget has not grown by 10% every year for the last 30+ years, so in real term their military is running of a fraction of the budget they had in 1990 while the officer corps consists of useless women, browns, jews and antifa infiltrators.

To offset their perpetually shrinking budget, the american military decided to raid their maintenance budget 20+ years ago. This means that their ships and short installations are so decayed that they simply cant keep up with repairs and ships regularly go on patrol with critical subsystems not working or only partially working. So they can pose and pretend, but they cant really slug it out.

If the iranians starts to chuck missiles at the american sea blockade they will force the americans to withdraw because some of these ships are so decayed they cant effectively defend themselves and the missiles they carry are produced in small numbers in a kind of botique workshop instead of a proper automated factory so eventually the USN will run out of defensive missiles in global storage and then its skedaddle time for real.

>Lack of munitions is my bet. You are absolutely correct. The US shouldn't be having any issues dealing with the houthis but snice we are it's due to a our shrinking munitions and saving what we do still have for Iran.

Not just that, read USN post incident reports. In one case an USN DDG shot down two F-18s in the Red Sea because the IFF interrogator antenna intermittently ceased to transmit and nobody had fixed that for since it was first reported 3 years before.

The amerimutt crew spotted two contacts flying in formation at mach 0.8 at high altitude approaching the carrier and they intepreted that as a missile attack when the IFF didnt return a positive answer. But that was because their antenna was fucked up.

Another F-18 went overboard from a carrier in the Red Sea when the carrier made a hard turn because the high friction rubber decking on the elevator had been worn off several years before and never replaced. The aircraft and the towing tractor simply skid over the edge with locked brakes.
