what do you think it means?
>>
>>542360749
It means the bond market is excited about Trump's commitment to borrow a trillion dollars and give it away and thinks America is the hottest country in the world.
>>
>>542360749
Numba go up! That means it's good.
>>
>>542360749
Nothing ever happens. It's not joever. We won't be dead in 6 months.
>>
>>542360749
do you really think most of this board even knows what a 10-year treasury bond is or how its rate of return affects anything?
>>
>>542360749
That a 20bp swing isn’t anything to get excited about. They were higher a few years ago
>>
>>542361762
The difference is that we have a fuckload of short dated debt that need to be rolled over at the now very, very expensive rate.

The runway is getting shorter and shorter.

The US empire is finito and the dollar will crash

The US10Y is a communist democrat illegal alien who hates America
>>
>>542361874
Well yeah, but that was true 3-4 years ago also. The debt train has been out of control from our lifetimes. If rates were 2% that doesn’t fix our problem.

The only way out is default (or choosing not to repay) or hyperinflation. 5% yields or 3% yields don’t change that. It maybe changes when, but not that much.

Zoom out faggot
Nothing ever happens
>>
>>542360749
nothing because that is a miniscule timeframe
it puts pressure on the fed to raise rates ig, putting them in conflict with trump

also the bond market may soon get a knock on the door from the us marines
>>
>>542362001
When it's about to crash, the yield will grow by orders of magnitude, not by a few percents; no reason not to debtmax if you know there'll be no one to return it to in a few months and people with inside knowledge will not miss the opportunity to run the system on its last round before bailing to Argentina.
>>
>>542361762

Yeah but never when the public debt was this high

The money government has to pay is equal to debt times interest; having to pay 5% interest when your debt is 30% of GDP is much different than having to pay 5% when your debt is 125% of GDP
>>
line goes up

US10Y yield has surpassed the 2023 peak and is now at the highest level since 2007

>last time yields were this high was in 2007
>gov debt was a paltry $5tn

Any other ideas, faggot?

It has not been a very fiscally responsible week for Washington

With fiscal responsibility it would be very easy for western nations to pay off their debts.
Stop pretending its impossible
