Worked tech for 10 years, decided to be done with computer jobs and went plumber > correctional officer in prison > butcher, and had an easy time getting in to each one and had a great time doing so. Not all the jobs are taken, and there is plenty of interesting and fun stuff to do. Sure it's not 70k tech jobs, but those are overrated. Most tech jobs are just so doing 10 minutes of work and then making sure you answer slack quickly, and while getting paid to do nothing seems cool, it begins to suck after a while and cultivates a sense of despondency. Plumbing I worked with a bunch of good old boy chuds, corrections is an extremely interesting but high risk industry, butcher is cool and the people I work with are nice.
