Imagine if an "Iranian terrorist" cell set off a nuclear dirty bomb in New York or Los Angeles, killing hundreds of thousands of Americans at once.This would easily be accepted as justification for a draft and a 2 million strong invasion force. We're going to choke their oil imports instead to keep them from invading Taiwan for the time being and punching their way out of the South China Sea. It would be nice if we were more direct with people about what's going on but "saving face" is very important to the Chinese and it serves us to keep their hands tied in some ways by allowing them to do so. That means we also have to deal with rampant Chinese propaganda not unlike what you're saying, which is annoying to say the least.
