Common people gain nothing, but the elites profit immensely. All of these things that are happening in Britain are not some kinds of treason by their elites; they are by design, which had been in place for centuries. The ruling class has never been on the side of an ordinary Brit, neither have they ever felt any kind of solidarity with them. To them a British commoner is as distant as some African, so they could not care less what happens to these people as long as their own interests remain unharmed. This is a case for all of the Western world (Russia included, obviously), Britain is just the most glaring example because British ruling class is detached from the rest of the population on an extreme almost religious kind of level. In countries like Italy these dynamics are also in place, but there the elites still maintain some degree of connection to common people, so they do not have the nerve to act that baldly. In the UK the ruling class is an entirely different world, compared to the commoners, with its own traditions, culture, language and way of life. So, there is little point in wondering why they do not view British people as their kin. In their eyes Britain full of Brits and Britain full of Indians are more or less the same thing. They had always had this kind of attitude towards their subjects, but a century ago they did not have to target British people in this particular manner, instead they used Brits as foot soldiers in conquering the world and, following the industrialization, as slave labour in sweatshops. I am by no means trying to offend Brits with this, this is a pattern present in most of the Western world, they just seem to have the most extreme version of it, which is why we are seeing the UK ahead of the rest of Europe in becoming a dystopian state. Key takeaway from this is – do not think elites are on your side just because you come from the same ethnicity, they could not care less about racial solidarity.

The things they do are not always driven by pragmatic logic, but by an unyielding desire to attain as much power and wealth as possible, even if it means destroying their own world in the mid-to-long term. This was the case with the development of nuclear bombs, this is the case with rapid AI development, and this is somewhat true for the unrestricted migration as well. Basically, nobody wants to live in a world one button push away from a nuclear war, nobody wants to live in a world completely managed by AI and nobody wants to live in a country where native population is well below 30%. But they are willing to make this Faustian trade in order to become as powerful and wealthy as possible in the short term, even if it means the destruction of their own communities. Of course, I am oversimplifying all of this here and in no way trying to say that nuclear warheads development, AI research and migration are rooted exclusively in the elites’ thirst for power and wealth at all costs, a lot of other important factors are at play here, obviously. But the general idea of making a sacrifice in exchange for something short-lived for the whole sake of attaining a vague concept of greatness persists through all those cases to various degrees. Although I might as well be wrong here, since this is stepping a little bit too much outside of more pragmatic explanations, for which Occam would likely have a strong word for me.
