The issue is western game devs forgot how to make good action games.For some reason, the camera must be up close to the protagonist, so you barely see your surrounding. This shit works for the Arkham series because Batman is looking for clues, and the camera zooms out a lot when fight begins.But action games nowadays want to be more like movies instead of games. So they zoom the fuck in and you cant see the enemies and the game feels cluttered. You're not fighting 10 guys, but 1 guy 10 times.Look at the old God of War and the nuGoW, its a stark example.Pic rel. DMC5 have you as a small guy jumping and slashing around hordes of enemies. Or look at Mousou games.While Wolverine is just too close so you dont really feel crowded.
