If anything, the jobs most threatened by AI right now are engineering/creative roles and the service industry, which are the fields still largely employing developed workers.
It'll take a decade for ML companies to gather enough data to train AI models in more physical tasks like manufacturing, and even then you would need to actually build the hardware for manufacturing bots to use.
The immediate future looks like Western economies imploding while the developing world moves on.

It did in the Terminator movies.

It would take a very massive attack on all electronic communication systems to completely spoof all human-to-human communication channels.

Mind that, just hacking and disabling wouldn't suffice, they'd have to take them over and fill them with appropriate fake messages in order to get the humanity to completely KYS.

It's a good thing that the option to kill all humans is not part of AI company's sale's pitch and mass manipulation and communication spoofing isn't social media company's declared investment target.

It might do a lot of damage but not because it is malicious; AI right now is basically a rube goldberg machine that has inputs and outputs and we don't really know what are the actual steps it follows to "reason", so it coupd potentially do things we don't want to, even really dangerous depending on what it can control.

Not just artificial intelligence research, but specifically machine learning dates back to the 1950's.
The recent buzz around it is because we now have enough computing power and scraped data to train them to an acceptable level, not because the concept itself is new.

not sure what “service industry”
even means
still need bodies to interact with people generate sells produce product
etcetera
calling it “service” doesnt really say anything
a handyman provides service
a grocery worker provides service
a plumber provides service
