Weird how indigenous Northern Europeans all came up with the same “myths” of tiny folks with specific dress and styles (usually involving unique hat wear and buckles), who have similar facial hair and beard styles, who perform specific household and homestead related tasks, carpentry, and oddly often cobbling. They all have intricate gift giving and food offering ceremonies and beliefs, tricksters but often beneficial in some ways, and despite language and distance and time all decided to invent the same creatures time and time again.Gnomes, leprechauns, brownies, fairies, elves, tomte, pixies, dwarves all totally made up and would definitely survive in the fossil record well.
