My parents bought their current house 14 years ago. Since then its estimated value has risen by 61%, while median household income has risen by 70%. If you go back 40 years, when it was last sold before them, the monthly mortgage payment would be HIGHER when you factor in interest rates, despite the house being nominally less expensive. And in those 40 years literally everything else has gotten cheaper. The reason people FEEL like things are more expensive is that more and more people are living alone than they used to, meaning we need more housing to host the same number of people. But Zoomers are living with our parents and saving up tons of money, more than Boomers ever had at our age, and our homeownership rate is higher than millennials and Gen X had at our age. It's lower than boomers, yes, but we're having families later. Don't fall for the outrage industry. Things are just fine.

you would just buy a used house back then, you're talking about like newly constructed shit of course that would take awhile, but now that is impossible to do
