There's no real reason because it never had anything to do with Nukes.
Israel needed Iran broken because Iran is a direct rival in the region and gets in the way or Israel's plans for a Greater Israel.
The US opposes Iran because we've basically wanted their oil back in our control after we lost it in the Iranian Revolution in the 70's

For us this entire conflict has been over resources and asserting our hegemony in the region, not the fear of Iran being some bad actor one mean word away from blowing up the world.
