You're better off being completely unapologetic regardless of how you vote, you aren't obligated to know the law either because the entire point of a jury is to be judged by your peers and offer the public a shot at legal vigilantism. Of course the court won't outright say this but this is how it has been ever since they stopped having public lynchings, they still had to appease the public's need of justice. We didn't always have high literacy in the USA, even going into the 60s-70s it was still fairly low but illiterate people still served on juries. Our system is more fast and loose than you might think, you're literally supposed to vote how you feel which is why the 19th amendment needs repealing.
