It honestly depends on what she didn't know. If it was something fundamental for her specialty, then it's bad. But I presume doctors have always used books, as human memory is not infallible, and it's better to double check information, on which someone's health and even life can depend upon. Now here we come to the question of the reliability of the information that can be drawn from a youtube video, compared to an authoritative book that has been verified over many years. Obviously, in this comparison the book is a clear winner.

The body is a complex system and correctly diagnosing an illness and treating it requires a huge wealth of knowledge. The problem is, the bar has been lowered massively and your PCP most likely doesn't clear it much. The general population needs to be told to wipe their ass and not suck on their thumb which they effectively do in a clinical setting. That's about it. Unless one of their CEs or internships or whatever had a specific case involving your issue then they're flying blind. At best they'll know a second opinion to contact, at worst they misdiagnose or wing it. As MDs rely more and more on working knowledge and recent experience while the rest becomes reference material the gap between your doctor and a correct treatment grows. This leads to less respect for the profession and more people self treating which can exacerbate an issue or cloak the symptoms until it gets worse. When your doctor leaves the office they're probably looking up a video on YouTube, googling, using a professional paid reference, or dealing with another patient. Very rarely will they have a treatment plan ready unless it's something very obvious like a wound or respiratory illness.
