Iran fired a electro optical missile at US ships. should they launch another salvo and actually hit and wound a carrier what lengths could we expect the US to go through to ensure the carrier limps back to port?

Does it really matter given the response was to sink rusting oil tankers?

>>542471556
The question wasnt damage control, the question was what lengths could we reasonable expect the US to go through to ensure it limps back to port since Iran proved it could hit the single most defended naval asset on earth.

Third worlder should just look into autonomouse underwater drones(torpedoes) and make a jet drone that releases those in water.
Eventualy one would get through and actualy be a threat since the only way to Deal with torpedoes is hope the jamming works
A carrier has 4 catapults, a single hit isnt going to stop all 4 of them
>>
>>542471554
>electro optical
why do thirdies keep spamming this word like it's supposed to be impressive? it's a missile with a camera on it, we've had this since the 60's.

It would be towed by ships from it's own carrier group.
I get you are a shill trying to play up the huge threat of something that hasn't happened but please be less retarded.
I'm enjoying laughing at the US fucking up hard in Iran but because I'm white I don't need to pretend Iran is some major force projecting power, they don't need to project very far at all to win.

You should go watch the video from 2022 with one of the Russian officers in charge of logistics.

"This is the problem of the west, They make things like this. The time it takes to make just one of these weapons, You cant have a machine make these, Every part has to make machined by hand, and wired by hand, It's Impossible for a machine[Automated] to make this"

In the Video he's holding a proximity fuse of a weapon I forgot from which country but its basically shit out by an automated process...

For some reason the Slavs/Browns think that making anything on scale that isn't a super simple device is impossible.

Trita Parsi is saying he's heard from multiple sources that the Iranians detonated the missile just above the ship as a warning. It wasn't intercepted and it would have hit. US is getting owned and the navy is now in actual danger at all times, while the citizens are fed propaganda and dream of taking on China.
>>
>>542471570
>that the Iranians detonated the missile just above the ship as a warning. It wasn't intercepted and it would have hit.
How is it possible to type something like this and not just die of shame at the level of bullshit you are putting out
>>

Trita Parsi is extremely reputable and I believe him if he says it, you appear to be coping. Sorry Fort Huachuca resident, turns out American military might kind of sucks.
>>
>>542471570
>Bro it was just a warning shot
You know, given that the American-Israeli 'warning shot' was to blow the Ayatollah straight to hell, you'd think they wouldn't puss out of it here unless they're either making shit the fuck up (it's this one) or they're just plain shit-scared of actual retribution from a real hit.

>d-detonated the missile just above the ship as a warning
come on, this is the baitiest bait that ever baited, nobody is actually this retarded.
>>
>>542471572
What you've got to remember is that you're not really talking to Americans, in so far as Americans still exist as a people, you're talking to proxy Israelis. They have a very different attitude to war than the white man, in their eyes if you're not assassinating negotiators and blowing up field hospitals as soon as you have the ability to, you're weak.
I honestly thought Iran had learned the difference by now, so it's quite hard to call whether this was a serious attempt at damage without seeing footage.

You could literally cut a carrier in half and neither half would sink. The entire thing is nothing but sealable compartments. You might have to tow it. You can make a carrier combat ineffective but it's almost impossible to actually sink one.

They're old stock since ATACMS has been superseded by PrSM, which is the whole reason why they were dumping the old shit in Ukraine. I'm unclear on what "refurbishment" you think needs to be done to the guidance systems.

Hello /k/,

Trita Parsi (Persian: تریتا پارسی ) here. Normally I wouldn't take time out of my busy schedule as founding executive of The Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and a PhD level academic slash most famous student of Francis Fukuyama to post on 4chan, I usually just jork it to /gif/ every now and again, but anyhoo. How's it going?
>>
>>542471611
Oh, I see the problem. The proximity fuze was mentioned earlier but it was my recollection that it was the guidance unit that the Russian guy was calling out as being unmanufacturable. I suppose it's possible I misremembered, and I suppose it's possible that the proximity fuzes were in fact hand made if there were a fairly small number of them made, but that certainly doesn't support the Russian guy's claim that Americans don't understand how to design for manufacturing.

>>
>>542471615
The point is they're not coming off a manufacturing line, they're being inspected and reworked by guys in a shed and the expectation was that this was a make-work job not an urgent requirement.
Fudged details aside which is easily done even when the translator isn't motivated; the Russian guy is essentially correct in what he's saying, these are not dropping off a line or being pulled from stores en masse.

Keep probing the US defenses from behind ground territory they occupy uncontested as the battlefield R&D arm of China, until they find each and every weakness of each and every ship, plane, satellite, and weapon system in our arsenal, while casually using guerilla warfare against our vital shipping lanes and proxy autocracies in the region. P smart really.
>>
>>542471568
Meanwhile in reality, the US can't even supply Patriot interceptors on any reasonable scale for an actual conflict and stripped your precious Ukranny of air defenses to save their shitty bases. All that complex machinery isn't worth jack shit if you can't mass produce it.

>Iran fired a electro optical missile at US ships.
Yes, they have been doing that for some time now. So have the Houthis for even longer. So?
>No hits but what if it hit?
Depends on the missile. Anything less than a full sized proper anti-ship missile is embarrassing but no more. The Iranians have been sniping various land bases around the region causing damage and injuries. These barely make the news in the US.
>Ballistic warhead
Even less of a concern. These aren't the Russian or Chinese state of the art long range ones specifically designed and tested to hit ships.
The Houthis have been throwing old school short range battlefield ballistic missiles at the navy for a while now. There's minuscule chance they could hit a ship even if the navy ignores them, and they don't ignore them.
So... what's the point of this thread?
>>
>>542472642
Two main things.
Assert their regional dominance, that the periphery of the United State's is weaker than the core of Iran.
Sever the US Israel tie that is the original cause of the US setting its sights on Iran.
Iran is doing both fairly well. Id say the first point is much more successful than the second point.
The US is too ZOG'd to ever treat Israel as "just another country".
But Iran is forcing us to quarter our troops in hotels, they are blocking off a majority of pre-war strait traffic, and have so far been able to sustain the damage the US is willing (important part there "WILLING") to inflict upon Iran.

The Houthis were a genius move.
Get an even poorer, less relevant power to knock off Saudi, America has to adapt on the fly to a rapidly developing situation, Iran gambled they wouldnt be able to, and they were right.
The Saudis fell apart and the Houthis knocked off Saudi energy in a matter of days.
The US watched Iran like a hawk, Iran did little while the Houthis blitzed through Saudi mercs who called upon deaf ears for American air assets.
