Patriarchy maintain power over their men by maintaining the ability to murder the men's offspring without repercussions. Sometimes a righteously angry father will kill the mother after she murders children, but the man will then be imprisoned or killed by the rest of the matriarchal tribe, and surviving children will be raised to hate him. Matriarchal must have child murder to keep men subservient to women.
