Any attempt to speak to regional ethnic culture in America produces the worse art (country music, rap, Latin music) while the organically syncretic projects we see in cinema and video games are far superior. There are theories that music is particularly reliant on ethnic homogeneity, and I think that might be true. Most of the synthwave music I like is created by Europeans. American cinema and video games have been on the decline, but that's because egalitarianism has destroyed creativity, and I guess it could be argued that ethnic heterogeneity often trends towards egalitarian attitudes.
