This. The problem is that with the ever growing federal deficits, there is more and more debt hitting the market.

The tradition buyers of long term bonds was pension funds. They did not care about the low interest rates of they got a dependable predictable v le payment each month to cover their pension payroll. There are now less and less pensions meaning the people who bought these bonds at low rates are disappearing. The rates being higher is here to stay. And has little to do with current events. More the long term decline in pensions.
