What you do should be a representation of what you are, not the other way around. For these people, what they do is to manage the image of what they are.

The one who commits murder yet sincerely turns to God for mercy is forgiven, but the one who condemns this murderer to hell will not be forgiven. The first revealed humility; the second, hatred and self-righteousness.

If you knew the God of Jesus Christ, you would have had mercy on him, just as God has mercy on you, a sinner.

It is said, "Those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted." And in this is proven that God is just: He judges based on what you truly are, and what you truly are cannot be faked. You cannot create sincerity out of insincerity, because sincerity comes from the heart, and what comes from the heart is what you truly are. And what you truly are, this you will be judged based on. And thus, no one can cheat their way into His kingdom.

This is the God we worship. We do not worship a God who judges arbitrarily, but a God who judges justly and shows no partiality.

This is repentance: that you humble yourselves before God, ask for forgiveness, and turn.

How is it that to the thief on the cross He said, "Today you will be with me in paradise," yet to those who did many works in His name He answered, "I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers"?

Because what you do doesn't change what you are; what you are changes what you do. As it is said, "A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit."

Therefore, do not invest in what is seen, but in what is unseen, because in that day, what is seen will become unseen, and what is unseen will become seen.

The days are coming when what is unseen will shine like the brightest star, and what is seen will be seen no more.
