Who is in charge? The king, and when he dies, his son. The us government is a built in succession crisis every four years. The enfranchisement of women and blacks and the entire world followed logically from democracy because it's based around the levelling principle. Our most famous documents opening words are "We hold it self evident that all men are created equal." If you read 19th century american writers they were tremendously proud of this egalitarian ethos. They saw themselves as superior to all of humanity because of "equality" a uniquely american idea. From that you can see why suffrage was extended to women and blacks and then today the liberals want the entire world, even animals and trees, to be given equal rights. It becomes a succession crisis when you cant eat meat because the animal deserves equal rights. That is what the king is for. To establish order, hierarchy, supremacy.
