I never really paid much attention in school, and I’m sure much of what they teach in class doesnt contribute to a full or well rounded understanding of the country and its history. What are some topics I should read or educate myself on? I just feel ignorant so want to learn. I know that is a vague premise and I figured that was for the best because I’d get a wide variety of answers.

I used Susan Wise Bauer’s Story of the World (which is geared towards children) to refresh my public education. Also check out Memoria Press. If you seriously did poorly in school then the homeschool materials work great as refreshers until you can jump into reading whatever pop-literature release you want to jump into.The average American reads at a 7th grade level, btw
