Why was 6 other areas under open rebellion at the time of the alamo? The answer is Santa Anna just outlawed slavery. In fact that's the real reason it took almost a month for the alamo to fall. They were waiting for Santa Anna to show up from putting down another rebellion near El Paso. The day after Santa Anna got to San Antonio the alamo fell.
